Computer Programs for Anatomy

I was looking for suggestions on the best computer programs for learning gross anatomy and embryology. I tend to learn better with interactive programs over just learning from a texbook. I'm also asking this because unfortunately I'll be retaking these classes this next Fall :-(

I've been told the ADAM program is excellent for gross and something called Simbryo is great for Embryology, any other suggestions?

ADAM is an excellent program. Be sure to order the practice practical as well.

Both are available on a student discount from Journey Ed software. (www.journeyed.com)

You'll need to send them a copy of your student ID before they will ship your order.

Any thoughts on Embryology programs? We have MacBaby at school which is pretty good, but not as detailed as I would like. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

ADAM is good. Brainiac is too, if you need neuro anatomy. The Wolf Files (link below) is good once you're ready for the radiology.

I am the lead author of Simbryo, and a 4/5 med student. Hope you enjoy it. It's coming out on the back of Langmans new edition at the end of this month. There's a v2.0 available now too that if you like the program, you can request your schools to buy it. The new version has clinical correlates (tetralogy of fallot, ASDs, VSD, transposition, the ____ bifidas and _____meningoceoles) and a new limb module. Would love the feedback if you have any. Thanks guys.

Is there a single user student version available by itself? I already own a copy of the 8th edition of Langmans. Is there a way an individual can purchase a copy of v2.0, or does it have to be through the school?

I'd encourage you to email these guys:

and ask them about any student rates they may have for v2.0. They love to hear from students like us. I don't think the CD is out yet from production, but it will be very soon. I think they're looking to launch it around the same time the v1.1 is released on the back of Langman's (now). But v1.1 has a lot of stuff too, and probably the cheapest route for you would be to buy the new Langman's (then sell the book part if you don't want it). Good luck!
