Computer Science Prereq?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When they say computer science do they mean something along the lines of discrete mathematics, or do they mean programming? Either way, I've taken both and neither are anything to worry about.

Can high school AP credit in compsci count too? hahahaha really don't want to do this...

It's probably a intro to computer class, covering windows, word processing, spreadsheets, etc. You would be surprised how many people come out of college without knowing how to put together a power point or spreadsheet.

Yeah, a non major cs class won't actually involve a lot of coding.

i loved my non-major comp sci class. it was like excel for idiots. we made games and learned how to make spreadsheets that calculate stuff for you. It saved me a heck of a lot of time in some of my bio classes where we had to use excel. that class was one of the few that i feel like i will actually directly use what i was taught.

Yeah...wish I could say that about my major related cs class. Exams = writing long blocks of code on paper, but everything else was ok for the most part. If you guys ever get the chance take at least one programing class it is addictive (even if you've been up all night trying to figure out why your program does not compile)!

I've never heard of this as a prereq. A good idea for sure though.

I may be wrong about this, but I don't think that any of the CA schools require comp sci. It's recommended.
