Do you guys know any podiatry schools that have conditional acceptances for those who haven't taken the MCAT or DAt yet? I know OCPM does from what they told me but I was just curious if anyone else does. I am applying soon but won't take the MCAT till April. I just want to make sure that I can be accepted as soon as possible.

Scholl has accepted without MCAT. Not sure if you know, but MCAT will be offered more (not just April/August). Its computer and will be offered I believe twice a month. I'd suggest taking the MCAT and not DAT. Someone has previously mentioned that most schools are changing in Januaruy to just accepting MCAT. Hope that helps.

thanks for the info. how long after you were accepted did you take the MCAT? or did you mean that you took the MCAT without everything else in? I talked to them and all they seemed to care about was that I have a 3.8 overall/3.7 science GPA. The said that all I had to get was an 18 on the MCAT which is pretty pathetic but I am still happy.

I was accepted without MCAT exam to Scholl. Iam planning to write MCAT 2 times, one in January and the next in February last week. Then iam going from March till August to India.

i would advise you to go for MCAT instead of DAT. You are already kind of late in admission cycle. But bcoz of ur GPA u will have no problem getting in. But i would ask them to give something in writing saying that i need 18 or above in MCAT. or else tomorrow you get 19 and they say no no our average is 22 and say that ur scores are not accepted . Then you will have problem. Thats why apply now only, in the conditional acceptance packet they will give you a sheet which says what waht items are required from you. In that they will list the MCAT requirement and how much you need to score. Just check that. And apply as soon as possible if you are looking for scholarships.

Are you from Chicago?

Scholl accepted me with my DAT scores but suggested I take the MCAT also. They said I was still accepted regardless if I take the MCAT but that it would be good to take it especially so they can use it for their averages. You know, so they can say the average admitted student had an MCAT score of ...I suggest taking it also if you have not taken any other test. I highly discourage the GRE. I took the GRE in order to get accepted into a Masters program that I competed in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. From that, I don't think the GRE assesses much about a student for schools based on medicine. The MCAT is the way to go in my opinion. I do hope that all schools will only accept MCAT by next year to raise the standards. Also, studying for the MCAT will give you a refresher on the sciences and better prepare you for school in my opinion. Hope this helps.

yeah it does. thanks for the info. I am actually from southern Utah. When you said that you are planning to write MCAT 2 times, what do you mean by that? What score do you have to get to secure your conditional accepatance seat for Scholl?

when i say 2 times, i mean i will be taking the MCAT two times. Lets say if i get 20 in January. Then i can asses my mistakes and realize where i went wrong. I can then retake the exam in February and score better. That is what i mean. I have to get same score what scholl said to you. But i am trying for atleast 22 and above.

Even if i get a 24 on first time, iam still going to take second time. Who knows i might score better. Usually all premeds take MCAT 1-2 times.

Is there a February MCAT? Because on the AAMC page, it indicates that there aren't any testing dates between Jan and April.

i think itll be computerized by then, right?

yep u r right! it will be computerized. Now mcat will be offered 22 times a year (nearly everymonth) and it is just 4hrs (previously it was 8 hrs). and so are the number of questions. They will also be reduced. So it will be a short exam compared to present exam.
