Condolences, ladies

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
we all know the ladies of sdn are bangin' 😉

Med school isn't a job and admissions committee members aren't human resources people.

Ohh I agree adcoms are far superior to petty HR people hiring for top firms, they aren't susceptible to such flaws in human reasoning when looking at or interviewing an applicant...in their decision making they all look deep through your heart to judge you for what you really are...

pffftt..

No it dosent.
If someone wants to submit a picture FOR me... What happen then?
I know this person has done personal comments portion for other students.. lol.

Isn't the reason they want your picture is to match it up to the image they take of you when you take your MCAT?

I know this person who has written the personal comments portion [on the AMCAS application] for other students.. lol.

There. I made your post at least somewhat understandable. What happens when you go on an interview and they realize you don't look like your picture? :smack:

by that I meant when he sent my pictures, he sent something downloaded from google search. isnt my picture.

Oh ewwwww, I hope no one looks at that MCAT picture. I was a freaking wreck.

+1 I hadn't shaved or gotten a haircut in forever and I basically showed up in sweatpants.

Seriously. I'm sure I took that thing in yoga pants and a t-shirt, and I maybe had some cover-up and lip gloss on.

Thats right... what if I dont look like a PSed picture? It all started with an irrelevant conversation... then it went downhill, from an average looking woman you see everyday at Walmart to a supermodel, from a studious, somewhat nerdy good student to some "????" .

Hallucination is not that uncommon.

I've bolded the parts applicable to you.

INSANITY, med. jur. A continued impetuosity of thought, which, for the time being, totally unfits a man for judging and acting in relation to the matter in question, with the composure requisite for the maintenance of the social relations of life. Various other definitions of this state have been given, but perhaps the subject is not susceptible of any satisfactory definition, which shall, with, precision, include all cases of insanity, and exclude all others. Ray, Med. Jur. Sec. 24, p. 50.

1. A chronic disease, manifested by deviations from the healthy and natural state of the mind, such deviations consisting in a morbid perversion of the feelings, affections and habits. 2. Disturbances of the intellectual faculties, under the influence of which the understanding becomes susceptible of hallucinations or erroneous impressions of a particular kind. 3. A state of mental incoherence or constant hurry and confusion of thought.

If by disturbance you meant the said irrelevant conversation happened more than 100 days ago. It maybe unfit for me to judge, why did you think someone would be disturbed by an online conversation. 😀 (which is exactly what caused me to withdraw and being laughed at by you in another post, the reason at that time was because I was a minor.)

Unless they have done something really make them think more? (a serendipity discovery for me 99 days ago.)

Thanks.

Good thing I'm gaaaaawgeous.

*hairflip*

According to the article, being a gorgeous dude would be a plus, but a gorgeous chick gets penalized, geek though she may be.

I'm not sure how relevant this article is to med school applications. Let's say that X med school requires you to send a photo. The article just says that if a female doesn't send a photo it's better than if a female does send a photo. But it doesn't give a statistical comparison of this relationship A) if photos are expected, or even required, or B) in that case, what would be the difference between girls and guys.

Plus, these days there's still a relatively equal chance of girls and guys getting into med school... so to me, there's no conclusive evidence that this is necessarily pertinent to our situation. also, the article begs the question, what about these companies they tested out? Were they inherently biased towards men to begin with? were these sexist countries? What level jobs were they applying to? (male-dominated industries? were the companies led by social classes or cultures with more sexist attitudes) You can't make a controlled comparison between this article and medical school.

That's what I get for not actually reading it and trying to make a joke.

Though I was complimented by an admissions head at one of the schools I applied to. I met with her almost three years prior and I asked her if she remembered me doing an informal hour at the end of the day. She said she did, because I have "beautiful eyes."

Aww, shucks.

Then I got WLed, so I guess I just proved the article, huh?

From the comments said:
Since most human resource departments who filter the job applicants are staffed with more females than males, I can see why the jealousy factor for potential female hires might come into play.

And that sums up what's going on here.

truthis is my new favorite person on SDN. Every time I see that he's posted, my heart skips a beat and my tummy flutters. 😍😍😍

read the comments to the original article

most work place HR's are female, which is the reason attractive females are at a disadvantage due to jealousy and attractive men are at an advantage or obvious reasons.

this would be opposite for med school adcoms which are mostly male.

I like your logic, meerkatology 👍

I hate jealous women!!! The one's that are so unconfident that they can't go anywhere without a group of other women just like themselves, and they don't talk about anything other than other people, and they constantly say "omg who does that?" and "awwkweeerd." They are the weird ones!! And I've been told that this behavior does not stop at any point in their lives.
