I recently got accepted to Andrews University in Michigan. However, I am still waiting to hear from other schools. Andrews gave me only 2 weeks to put down a confirmation deposit before I had to give up my seat. When I paid my confirmation deposit, a faculty member emailed me thanking me for deciding on Andrews. While I am happy that I got accepted somewhere, I was wondering if this confirmation deposit ties you down permanently to that university? I would rather go to UM Flint if I get accepted there. But if I put down my confirmation deposit at Andrews, can I still choose UM Flint instead? Thanks!

Yes, you simply withdraw from Andrews (email or whatever their policy is). You lose the deposit money. Then you pay the deposit to UM and you're in.

Perfect! I like Andrews University a lot but it is a private school that costs A LOT and its farther away. I'd rather go to UM Flint (for costs and it is closer to my family and friends)and I am remaining hopeful that I will get in there. To me spending the $300 deposit at Andrews is worth it if it means saving my only seat. But it is good to know I can withdraw if I get an offer from UM Flint...but at any rate, I am rambling now...haha Thanks! 🙂

damn i wish my deposit was only $300 lol.

500 deposit at AT still as well? midwestern's deposit alone deterred me from applying there... midwestern's is 1000 isn't it?

Yea AT Still was 500 but I didn't put my deposit down. I went with Midwestern. Yup, $1000 🙁 but it goes towards first semester tuition. So it's not like I'm paying the deposit then the full tuition. Still a hefty investment though but luckily I could swing it.
