Hi Imran,
if you plan to appear in part 1 and you don't pass it, then its not going to affect your part 2 score.if you still have doubts, call 1800 232 1694.thats the number for national board information.

I think what you are saying is wrong.Pls dont misguide others.
You can take part 2 only if you pass part1 .so the issue in taking part1 again is that your part 2 score becomes invalid if you do not pass part1.

Does this mean you,ve to do both parts again?

I did not misguide anyone.i gave him the nbde information number also,so that he can confirm by himself.
Divya are you sure about this that if you don't pass part 1 then part 2 score becomes invalid?

thank you for this information i should call that number you scared me dyvia

Imran2, I think it is as diificult to fail part 1 as it is to get above a 90!! So, you shouldn't be worried. You will do well.

[thank you g3k

Where did you learn that? Or is it just what you think AND not a cross-checked fact?

During a telephone conversation with scoring dept earlier this year I was advised by a staff to take Part II and then go about retaking Part I. I was specifically told that Part II score is not affected (or does not become INVALID) by Part I result. Of course one has to pass Part I otherwise a stand alone Part II result won't have a meaning.

None of us are authority on any technical / legal matter but a responsible comment / input is appreciated.

But if one passes Part I on re-retake then Part II becomes valid. So in essence one's Part II never becomes invalid. Also there is something called History of score report. It's available from ADA for $20. It shows that you have passed both Part I and II in the past along with recent Part I failed score. Most of the dental boards are not that fussed and accept history of score report for the purpose of licensing in that particular state or region. I was also informed by the staff of scoring department-ADA that some dental schools did/does accept history of score report as well.

I have posted all these before for the benefit of SDN members. Hope this helps everybody once again.
