I just received my Step 2 CK score today. My three digit score was 260+ but my two digit score was an 87. It seems like a mistake to me but I just wanted to make sure and see if anyone else has had something similar happen

Same issue. Maybe they recalibrated.

The website (http://www.usmle.org/announcements/?ContentId=78) says they are phasing out the 2-digit score, and that the conversion table "will not apply for results reported October 1, 2011 and later."

Hmm.... I hope program directors are aware of this

The two-digit scale was changed effective Oct 1, and if you check the link, these scores will no longer be reported except to you and state medical boards (the 2-digit is there only for them, who can't seem to use the three digit scale). Thus, PDs will no longer see your two digit score (good riddance).

This is a better link with a better explanation: http://www.usmle.org/General_Information/announcements.aspx

"The change in scoring procedures will introduce a more stable relationship between score scales in the future. Those receiving 2-digit score results under the new system will note that, in most instances, the 2-digit score associated with a specific 3-digit score will be substantially lower than it was prior to this change.

The change in scoring procedures described above does not correct the challenges associated with using the 2-digit score scale for decisions other than those that use a score of 75 or higher to identify examinees who have passed the examination. It is highly recommended that the 3-digit score scale be used for comparisons among examinees, especially for examinees who have tested at different points in time."
