I'm currently a second year pharmacy student at one of the Top 5 Pharmacy Schools in the nation. I should be content with where I am, but for some reason, I've been having a lot of second thoughts about pursuing pharmacy as a profession. I've worked as a technician and intern in both hospital and retail pharmacies for the past 3 years, so maybe I'm just bored with working in a pharmacy altogether. I am currently 20 years old and if I continued with my pharmacy education, would be done by the time I am 23.
As of recently, I have been seriously thinking about becoming an MD. I currently work in a pharmacy at a Women's Hospital, and the field of obstetrics/gynecology really interests me.....so, my 2 choices are to 1) finish my PharmD degree and then apply to medical school after (although I'm not sure if my pharmacy degree would hinder or help my application), or 2) completely drop out of pharmacy school and finish a bachelor's degree (which would probably take me a year, even though the only requirement I'm missing for most med schools is Physics 2)...any input is appreciated!

How much do pharmacists make on average?

I would seriously consider finishing Pharmacy school first. You're already a 2nd year student. No offense, but you should have made up your mind before you past the point of no return.

But!

No one says that you can't change your mind later in life, immediately after or after a few years in the field. No one says that you can't be an MD later.

~80-110k 25%-75th% (avg 100k) with career forecasts showing dramatic increases in job oppurtunity but forecasts are forecasts so take them for what they're worth.

I would say no matter what, stay and finish getting your degree. You've already invested time/effort to get to your second year. Finish out the degree and work to pay off the debt for 1-2 years. At that point, if you're not 100% in love with the profession, re-evaluate and do what you feel is right (get an MD).

Also, are you sure you're not just having a case of the school blues? Maybe you'll like having a PharmD more when you're actually practicing?

I vote for finishing it also.

I worked in a pharmacy as a premed and considered switching to prepharm. I think its a great profession. I would finish the degree and then see how u feel. Whats 2 years in the grand scheme?
