Are these all one and the same or are they different in anyways? Also is there anything else that one can do other than the ones mentioned above or a residency to legally practice in United States.
Thanks
Let me guess, you must be new at this, it's ok, we all are.... or were at one point in time...I could write a book answering your question, but I'll try to cut to the point, Advanced Education in General Dentistry or AEGD is a residency program that some graduates prefer to do
after getting the dental degree from school, everything else you mentioned (international program, advanced standing, or most other similar names) is the path for licensure in the US for foreign-trained dentists, and as far as I know, it's the best one (direct & straightforward), I'm afraid there are not too many shortcuts, some states may accept specialty training instead or a residency, but very few.
To minimize the confusion, don't stop at the name of the program, read the details, visit the school and the program web pages, or call the program coordinator and see what the scope of the program is and if it's there to help foreign-trained dentists in their licensure quest or not. You will find that you are going to do lots of reading....and if you have one or more specific programs in mind please feel free to mention them here, you'll benefit from the collective experience of all SDNers, you'll find plenty of help, as many of us here have visited most if not all the international programs in US dental schools
Best of luck
🙂
