Hi. CVS and I recently had some "differences". And needless to say, I am no longer an employee there. They weren't giving me the pharmacy hours that were promised, and many of the employees were harassing me.

My sister recomended that I do a brief program to get my certified nursing assistants license, and work in a nursing home or hospital.

I want to do this because i know they have very flexible hours, and the pay is pretty good.

However, my dream is to become a pharmacist. Will becoming a CNA help my cause in any way of getting into pharmacy school, or will it not make a difference at all?

Thank you. 🙂

Why not try to get another Pharmacy position?

I strongly reccomend you try to become a pharm tech somewhere else, or volunteer at a hospital pharmacy or something....

No, honestly....being a CNA won't particularly help when it comes to getting into pharmacy school. You still need the experience or familiarity with or within a pharmacy.

Rather than go into another pharmacy - hospital or other chain, have you thought about these "differences". What part did you play in creating or contributing to the "differences".

Unless you figure that out, you'll still be left with this void. If you want, post your situation, which really must go beyond just the hours within the pharmacy and you might receive constructive criticism which may help you.

If you don't want to post that publically, pm someone here who you think might give you insight into your particular circumstance to give you some perspective.

But, yeah, if you want to go to pharmacy school....it will look better for you to have pharmacy experience or exposure.

Good luck!

wanted to know should i apply now because the school i want to go offers rolling admission? is it worth to apply or should i jst wait until next year to apply?

I think that being is CNA would be a plus, it will really help you on your interview. They asked me stuff like: Did you ever work with someone that was from a race or culture than you and how did you handle it? They asked me how I see pharmacy changing in the next century and what I want to with pharmacy.

I did not have a tough time answering b/c patients come from a variety of backgrounds. As a nurse aid you will work will people from many cultures. As far as the pharmacy questions, you will see what goes on in the hospitals. You will be able to see how patients get their meds and what a pharmacist does in a hospital.
