So I'm confused about the following info I found in the instruction manual:

 Do not assign more than one status to an academic term.
 Assign High School (HS) status to college-level courses taken prior to the high school graduation date you entered in the Schools Attended section, regardless of the physical location of the college-level course. This does not include AP, Exempt, or CLEP credit.
 Assign Freshman (FR) status to Advanced Placement, Exempt, or CLEP credit awarded when you first entered college.

These seem to contradict each other. If I can't assign more than one status to a term.... how am I supposed to assign HS to college courses taken while in high school and FR status to the AP courses given credit in that same term? I tried to do this in AMCAS and it didn't work...

To clarify, I have a college transcript from high school (I went to a sort of pre-college residential program where I basically attended the college and got my HS diploma from this program), and I claimed my AP credits while attending this school, so those credits are on my college transcript from when I was in HS. I put 'HS' as my status for all other courses taken at this program, and I'm having trouble entering AP courses because it only lets you choose "AP" if your academic status is college or above. But then it doesn't allow me to assign more than one status to a single term! (see first bullet)

Anyone with experience and/or knowledge about this, help would be greatly appreciated!

Were you taking actual college courses in high school? Or were they courses just physically at the college and through this residential program? Were you with college students during these courses or just your residential program classmates? Did you continue to take courses at this school after graduation? And you applied your AP credits to your transcript prior to graduating from HS? Just trying to clarify...

Yes, I was taking college courses in this high school program alongside other university students (although some courses I took had sections designated just for students in my program). I didn't receive a degree from the university, but I graduated with my HS diploma from the program. I did not continue at this university after graduating from the program. Yeah, I wanted to get as many credits as I could at the time (for what good reason, I'm not sure....), so I applied my AP credits from AP exams I took before enrolling in this program (it was a 2-year program). It's confusing I know...

I am guessing the OP is trying to list the AP courses during the HS term that they were actually taken. These are not college courses even though AP.
AP credits only exist when a college awards you credit for them. So it is the term that the college awards you credit in college, not when you took the class in HS. If the college awards them "pre-enrollment" you count them as freshman

The AP credits are listed on the "college" transcript from when I was at this program. This is not the same school as my current 4-year institution.

You should just call them if you have any questions. They're really helpful.

This question also applies to credit from foreign language credit-by-exams I took at this institution in order to take more advanced language courses, as those also count as "AP courses" on AMCAS...

Yeah, I may do that tomorrow, thanks! Although it's hard having to work during their business hours :/

I understand that. This sounds like a unique situation in which that may not apply. From what OP is saying, the term that the AP credit was applied to was the same term in which he was taking college courses in HS.

I wonder if that's a new rule or if I just didn't read it 6 years ago when I was applying. I tested out of 3 years of Spanish and didn't list anything.

I second the recommendation to call them if you find the time, they're super helpful.

I know, I remember having that problem too. But it will be a big relief to know it's done correctly. You can ask to speak to the supervisor if you have an odd situation or the front line person is unclear.
