Consider wait list when you already have acceptance at another school?

This maybe a silly question, but do people still sign for the wait list (alternate list) at one school when they already get accepted to another school?
I got accepted to UCSF and got wait listed at UDM. I was wondering should I sign UDM alternate list, just in case a spot is open for me and I still have this as a back up/or something to consider between?!

Why do you need a backup? You're already in. Unless you would rather go to UDM than UCSF, then I don't see why you need to hold a spot on the waitlist. Also, not sure about UDM, but I'm guessing schools rank their alternate/waitlist. I'm guessing you're a great applicant, but why hold a spot over another person who either really wants to go to UDM (more so than you do, if that's the case) or is trying to get into their first one.

Agreed. Let us all be mature adults now

If you want to go to UDM more than UCSF then I could see why you would want to. If you want to go to UCSF though, I see no reason to hold onto a wait-list slot.

Don't feel pressured to give up that spot, just because you already have one. If you would rather go to the other school, put your name on the waitlist! If not, don't!! People put down deposits on schools and lose them when they get accepted to a school they'd rather go to. There's nothing down with putting yourself down, but only if you'd rather go there.
