Contacting alumni to learn more about programs?

I interviewed at a small residency program up north which I really really liked. The problem is that I go to a med school in the south and basically nobody from my school is very familiar with that residency program and can't give me much advice other than what I already know.
I recently found out that an alumnus from that program is a practicing physician here in town and I was wondering if it would be weird if I tried to contact her to get more opinion/advice on the matter. Is it considered creepy/weird if I called her office to ask about the program?
