Converting Goljan files

What do I need to do to get my Goljan from my iTunes onto my iPod?

Doesn't itunes convert the files for you? Just try dragging and dropping them into itunes.

Nah it won't do it for me... do I need to convert the tags or convert to ACC format?

What format are they in now? mp3? Are they already in iTunes? If not what are you using to listen to them?

If you can listen to them in iTunes (as in they're already in your iTunes library) you should be able to just drag them over to your iPod.

You may have to use an MP3 converter to up the bit rate in order for it to work for itunes. Another method is to burn the files to a CD then convert them to mp3s and stick them in itunes.

It works in iTunes, but when I go to sync it to my iPOD, it tells me that the audio format is not supported or something like that. It doesn't offer any explanation on how to fix this. Very strange; this doesn't happen with any of my songs, just Goljan.

If you right click on the file in iTunes, click "Get Info" and look at the file name, what is the file extension? (What kind of audio file is it? mp3, .aac, .m4p, etc...)

OK So I think I found my mistake with the Goljan files... but now I have another challenge for you guys =)

I downloaded some medical microbio lectures from the MUSC (med univ of south carolina) website... the problem is the fastforwarding in iTunes doesn't seem to work correctly - for instance, when I listen to the lecture the whole way through, the professor ends his lecture (which I know is correct) with a bit on gram stains. But when I FF to the last part of the lecture in iTunes, the last few minutes are some bit on archae, which the professor describes way back in minute 22 or so. In other words, the fast forwarding seems to somehow cut off the audio prematurely. I know this b/c I listened to it full (without pausing/ff/rewind) one time, then tried again to FF to the end but while iTunes claims this is the end of the audio, it's really only halfway through.

Any help is appreciated. I hate technology...

And get this! When I play the audio in winamp, even though winamp says the lecture is 50:44, when I scroll over to the end of the lecture, it just keeps rolling past that marker, to 52, 54 minutes...😡

OK! I think I got it...

for future searchers, the files have to be in AAC format. I thought it would convert the file already in my library over to AAC, but it actually creates a separate AAC file, which you then have to move into your playlist in order to sync with your iPOD. Whew!

Glad you got it working ok. I like iTunes but it can be a pain if you're using it for more than just getting music from it's store.

Curious: What was the original format of those audio files? I have no problem putting regular (non-DRM) .mp3 files on my ipod.

They were both MP3s; I have no idea why they weren't working correctly, but hey it works fine now so I'll count my blessings.

Audio files are just a great thing to have around while you're cooking, working out, etc, so I'm glad I got this all straightened out. Thanks for your help!!
