Hey I thought I'd make a thread for discovered military discounts for those on 'Active Duty'.

Add yours to a copy and past to the initial list and keep the list updated and current to places you find to be sweet discounts that you've discovered for being military personnel.

A couple that I've found out off the top of my head are:

- At&t wireless: 15-20% off your wireless bill with email account.
- Most movie theatres nationwide: $5 movie ticket before 5 pm
- Louisville Slugger Museum: FREE admission
- Jason's Deli: 50% off order

Chipotle Mexican Grill in Chicago-50% discount! Incredible.

Oakley gives huge discounts to military personnel. I bought Oakley boots (they are approved) for half price. I had to jump through some hoops and fax them a copy of my military ID among other things, but its legit.

Here is the website:

https://secure.usstandardissue.com/

I would also add that no other perk from being in the military trumps access to USAA banking service. Check em out, usaa.com

- Lowes (4th of July, Memorial Day, etc.): 10% off
- New York and Company: 20% off

Are you allowed to purchase stuff on gsaadvantage.gov if you're on "active duty"?? <-- someone please explain when one is considered on active duty as well. Thanks!🙄

Amen to the USAA.com. The best financial institution I've ever been a part of. (if you like institutions😳).

Thanks for the Oakley link, I'm going to try it as soon as I've got some cash.

If you're a USAA member, you get 45% off from FedEx

OK, so how do you get your military ID card? I'm assuming you can still get one while in school.

Active Duty status, go to your base with your orders and you should be able to get one.

You need to be enrolled in DEERS. Ask your military point of contact for info on that. Then you can go to pretty much any military installation and get one with a copy of your orders. I havent actually gotten mine yet but my AF buddy here at school got his at a nearby coast guard station.

Great link, thanks. Now I'd be curious if we could try to fill in the 'deals' to many of these places. I plan to take my ID card everywhere and just try em out and fill it in. Maybe we can keep all the updates in this thread that people find as they go.

My buddy and I just started a blog for military discounts and deals. It's a place we'll keep updated of our experiences and up-to-date information that we come across. We are both HPSP students (I'm in medical school and he's in dental school), but we both love to find good deals. We just started it so there is much more to come...Check it out

You and your dependents will get in free once a year. Other than that, you'll have to buy tickets. My wife and I took the kids over this past spring and got in free. We took the kids back there a couple of weeks ago and had to buy tickets because our "1 free pass a year" had already been used.

Update:
