CORD tests

Our residency uses CORD (Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors) tests to keep us adhering to a curriculum every two weeks or so. I was wondering if other programs use CORD tests and what they feel about it.

Is there a better EM review service out there? One that follows a textbook like Tintanelli? One without typos and mistakes?

Any thoughts?

We use the CORD tests as well. I personally don't find them to be very useful. A great question bank is PEER (VII is the most recent version, but VI is also fairly recent as well.) The questions are apparently similar to the inservice exam, and the explanations are detailed enough to be worth reading. Hope this helps!

I personally liked the PEER questions. There were several questions on the board exam which bore a striking similarity to questions I saw on PEER.

The CORD tests can be useful. I learned a lot about some finer points I was intended to know but more importantly I think I learned a lot about how the examiners think when writing the questions. How to read the answer that just sounds right.

I find the CORD tests are a bit odd, and they always run a few years behind the current practice. You have to learn for the test instead of learning for your practice.
