Hey guys, sorry to make a thread looking for guidance on figuring this out, but I have researched and talked to people and I can not get this figured out. I am accepted in Sam Merritt and UCSF/SFSU and currently deciding which to attend. I hear that UCSF/SFSU is supposedly cheaper, but when I calculate the tuition, fees, etc. for the program versus Samuel Merritt, they both come out to about roughly $93,000 for the whole program. Samuel Merritt looks to be much pricier at first (40,000 in tuition) versus UCSF ( roughly 30,000) per year, but at Samuel Merritt you do not have to pay that tuition fee in the last 6 months due to the culminating internship. I feel like an idiot not being able to see the difference since people keep saying there is, any help would be appreciated. Thank you all.

This is just a guess on my part, basing my info off of SMU's website here: http://www.samuelmerritt.edu/tuition . According to this page: "DPT Program - Tuition for this program will be billed for seven semesters and internship fee for the eighth / ninth semesters."
$40,855/annual
Internship fee: $1,500/8th semester

From their financial aid handout during interview day, it says that one year = 3 semesters. Therefore, $40855/3 semesters * 7 semesters = $95,328. Plus either $1500 or $3000 depending on if they charge the internship fee for both 8th and 9th semester. This number is before calculating any of the school fees (i.e. health insurance which they estimate to be $4,800/year "based on 2013-2014 charges").

On UCSF/SFSU's page (http://ptrehab.ucsf.edu/education/dpt/dpt-fees) they seem to have added in some of these general fees into their calculations. Not sure if this information helps at all.... 😛
