Ok , my fall schedule look like this

I chose these courses to help study for DAT

Monday through Thursday

Courses

Physics 2 lecture
Physics lab

Microbiology lecture
Microbio. Lab

Organic chemistry 1
Organic chem

And

One economics course
One health management course

Both of these are writing paper type courses.

I will not work and have 2 hour breaks everyday.

Is this manageable ?

Do you know anyone who experienced such schedule ?

Would you do it?

What would you change, or replace, or remove?

( I have to keep those two last courses , part of major!)

If you aren't working, this schedule doesn't look heavy at all.....

i would take out one of the economics/health management courses

It looks kinda heavy to me... Or maybe not heavy but it will be challenging because most people I know try to avoid taking Orgo and physics at the same time. I had friends that were doing it this year and they were dying. And at my school Micro is a 4 credit course and it's also known as a monster course as well. So it's a good thing you're not working, but if you're aiming for A's in all courses I would get ready to buckle down if I were you. Procrastination for even just one day could ruin you if you're not the kind of person to grasp physics and Orgo quickly (which I'm not, ergo why I can understand you seeing this as a hefty schedule).
Best of luck though! You got this!

It really depends on how hard the classes are.

I took Orgo(3) + physcis(4) + orgo lab (4)+ linear algebra(3) together since I knew my linear algebra was a relatively easy course.

To me, it seems a little heavy just because there are 3 labs, if I understand correctly.

I took Physics 1 and lab, Orgo 2 and lab, microbio and lab, animal physiology, ornithology and lab, and independent research..... And was a D1 athlete practicing 30 hours a week. Got A's in all but one course.

You can do it if you work hard.

Thank you for sharing .

I did it last fall except instead of your health management/economics I took honors philosophy which was extremely writing and reading intensive. It was a lot of studying (on physics part) but totally doable. Finals week was a little crazy but i lived. All A's (well A- in microbio because I literally studied the day before for an hour on every exam). Go for it and good luck!

Thank you fellow pre dents,

I will keep this schedule and not look back to change it!

Thank you for sharing your experiences,

Sometimes when looking at a schedule of courses like these seems intimidating, and impossible.

It's good to know that there are others who have done it.

Actually that's not that heavy at all. I actually had a packed semester last year which included:

Organic Chemistry 2 (With lab as part of the grade for the course)
Physics 1
Physics 1 Lab
Genetics
Genetics Lab
General Class- Art
General Class- Science

I ended up with all As and still had fun throughout the semester

Sometimes it may just LOOK intimidating. You should look at your schedule and be like "BRING IT ON!". Stay motivated and confident. Confidence is very important. :luck:

Would you replace physics 2 with statistics for my schedule?

Your funny, I can imagine you looking in the waiting room and seeing room full of waiting patients and saying to your self "bring it on!" (What ever dental work needed)

Thanks again

🙂

It's very possible but don't expect to have much of a social life if you want to make great grades. I had similar schedules and pretty much spent every night of the week in the library.

I don't think anybody knows if you can handle that workload except yourself. To me and evidently multiple other pre-dents that schedule does not look that bad, but to others, it might. Just because Joe Shmo who can ace gross + orgo + physics + quantum chem + biochem finds it easy, doesn't mean you will. There's no shame in not taking a heavier load than you can handle, and you should definitely consider that gpa is important if you are that worried about this course load.

I would also like to add, this is also being done like this to challenge my self!

I am pretty sure dental school is not easier!!!!

.......

Right ?

Also depends if your school is quarter or semester system. But I agree that only you know your abilities best and how heavy a workload you can handle.

If you have the drive, then you can do it. If you keep questioning yourself and making excuses for yourself, you won't survive this schedule.

Right ?

Exactly how I saw it. I told myself that if I couldn't handle it, then I shouldn't even worry about applying to D-school because those schedules are quite hefty. Be confident but don't be crazy. It requires a lot of discipline. If you truly believe you can do it then by all means get moving 🙂

If not then its no shame to lighten the load rather than just do mediocre.

And at the end of it you can treat yourself to $50 worth of jelly beans like I did. Or whatever else you find rewarding. (but jelly beans are by far super awesome). Along with a pretty transcript 😀

IDK what school you attend but at my school, Health Management classes are considered to be pretty easy and Econ isn't hard either. With that in consideration ( and again, your school could be different), this schedule seems doable. Orgo 1 and Physics 1 are nowhere near as hard as Orgo 2 and Physics 2.

Just keep your GPA in mind...nothing is more important!

If you want help studying for the DAT, take as few classes as possible and just study DAT material.
