Or would that be illegal/unethical?

I remember you saying you had a list of average premed GPA's from various UG's to adjust for inflation/deflation.

Do most other medical schools also have this list and could you give an example of how it is used? Do you also adjust for quality of UG students when comparing the list (ie - school with average premed GPA of 3.5 and average SAT score of 1800 would be easier to outcompete students compared to a school of average premed GPA 3.5 and average SAT score of 2100)

Thanks

No way she posts this and I believe it is against the rules to call out a user in the title like that.

IB lock/delete.

Yeah, there is no way that any adcom of sound ethics would release such figures. What would you even want with such data?

Sorry for calling her out in the post title - was unaware of that rule and will not do it again.

Just wanted to know where my GPA stood compared to other applicants from my UG since I know there is variance among different UG's.

If a mod would please edit the post title I would be grateful....I still would like to know how important such information is on assessing an applicant.

So that way they could claim that since their UG is the bestest ever, they will go to Harvard and match in derm or radiology.

Apologies if I came off as abrasive there. I really was curious what you would do with it, but you have a good point, and honestly I think asking your own registrar or pre-health board would be the best way to go about that as Mr. Naylor mentioned.

Anyway, even if you do know, there isn't a load you can do about it other than the best you can--which you should be doing anyway. 😛

Isn't this information freely available? That Excel spreadsheet, advisers, and the countless of posts here...people give her too much credit. 😛

the spreadsheet has been banned cuz AAMC lawyered up, although it's still very easily findable on the interwebz (or so I've heard?)

No the MSAR has MCAT/GPA by accepted students at a particular medical school, not the average MCAT/GPA from applicants from a particular undergrad school.

Also my premed advisor said he doesn't have such info.

a lot of schools freely share it. for example, johns hopkins undergrad website says that undergrads from jhu who matriculate into med schools have a mean gp of 3.57, sGPA 3.48, and MCAT 32. if you want to know, just search / google the school pre-prof sites.

No. This is not what the OP is asking for.

He is asking for information that shows the average GPA of students at a particular school. That would include ones that do and do not apply to medical school. I don't know if this data exists, in what form it is, or any of that. Even if the data he wants only actually has the average GPA of applicants from that school (not just matriculants), this is likely extremely difficult to find for the majority of undergraduate institutions.

Like nick said, I would think many health advisers could get you this information. Perhaps try the registrar to determine what your school's average graduating GPA is.

Our school has a huge binder full of the average science, cum GPAs broken down by major, each medical school, year, etc. You should talk to your prehealth office to see if they have similar stats.
