Anyone else waiting till March to hear from "that" school?

yes, x2. this process is nothing but endless waiting.

Yes! Luckily time is passing quickly, but I'm definitely waiting and hoping for good news in March.

I hate it. Why can't they go to off-semester admissions? (I know, the cost) I've been complete with all 23 of my applications since September and I've interviewed only once.

Why March?

Because that's when most schools have a draft entering class. They also have a waitlist by that time, in case anyone on the draft decides to attend somewhere else. Classes are frequently not set in stone until a week or less before school starts.

Rxn - I don't understand how I got interviews at schools that you didn't. I don't understand why every school that you applied to wouldn't want to interview you! Maybe they think you're overqualified? But still. This whole process baffles me more and more each day.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. In some ways, my issue last year was 'overqualification.' The interviewers said that they did not see why I needed to get the MD to progress in my career. Reading between the lines, they thought that I wanted to become a research doc (I do, but I'd split my time 60/40, 66/33 in favor of patients) and would be better served by getting a PhD. It was infuriating and patronizing of them to make that decision for me.

It all comes down to GPA and MCAT. Your AMCAS information is filtered for the ADCOM to show GPA and MCAT only. Only after you make their cut-offs are your major, ECs, experience, etc., viewed. I don't make the GPA cut-offs (My grad GPA, which is ~1.5 times higher than my ugrad, does not raise it enough), so my application doesn't get read. I've said it elsewhere, and people disagree, but if you don't fit their idea of a med student, then you have a hard time getting in.

good thing we're almost into the shortest month now.

Yep still waiting on U. Of Iowa and KU. Good luck to all those in limbo like me 🙂
