Countdown Until December 1st 2017

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I wanted to wish everyone the best of luck tomorrow night and heading into Friday morning. Dec 1, 2016 is a day I will remember for the rest of my life and hopefully this Dec. 1st will be the same way for most of you. Try to sleep tonight and do what you can to ease your nerves tomorrow. 🙂🙂

I just went on an online shopping spree and blew like 1/2 my savings... I don't think I would have done that if it wasn't 2 days before Dec 1.🤢🤢:barf:

26 schools. 4 rejections. Had interviews at Nova and UNLV (hopefully one of them will work out). 1 Post-Dec interview at Touro is currently scheduled.
Hopefully you will get in both [emoji4]. You got this. How early did you apply tho?

Now the question is did you buy stuff you’ll need for school because you’ve so confident you’re getting accepted? Or did you just blow money?

Hi when people say some school update portal at "MIDNIGHT " are we referring to EST or PST?

Less than 24 hours for some schools... I'm currently trying to calm my heart rate and force myself to sleep so I can wake up at 5. 11 hour day tomorrow, but that doesn't include 2+ hours of commuting (and by commuting, I mean sitting in the car by myself wondering what answers I have coming...)

This is going to be the longest day of my life.

Hearing a lot of answers as I go through threads, but does anyone know about how long dental schools will wait for you to give them deposit $ from the day of acceptance? Trying to figure out how to get da money together seeing as this whole process this year drained my savings. Oh well.

Oh yeah, freak out for December 1st!

I think it varies between schools. Some schools give you a week and some give you a whole month. It would be best if you call your school tomorrow and get that answer from them.

"Applicants extended an offer of acceptance between December 1 and January 31 have 30 days to respond. The response period for applicants extended an offer of acceptance on or after February 1 and through May 15 is 15 days. Applicants accepted after May 15 may be asked for an immediate response to an admissions offer."

This is according to the ADEA AADSAS traffic rules.

I applied to 15, heard back from 4 only thus far ( 3 interviews, 1 rejection).

“I feel like today is our last day to dream about the possibilities. I've spent these last few months imagining what it would be like to live in NYC, Boston, or to get into my dream school. I've searched apartments, picked out furniture, and day dreamed what my day would be like in a new city. I thought that since I interviewed there, there was a very real possibility that those things could happen. After tonight that changes. Once we are accepted and choose a school, we essentially close the different pathways our life could have gone down. So I am going to take this opportunity to think about all the places I've been these past few months and dream about all the different possibilities. What an awesome scenario we are in. For many of us, tomorrow cements our careers in dentistry, and with it a whole new life.”

🙁im not crying ur crying

Just finished studying for a test tomorrow and listening to some music before I go to sleep. I've stayed so busy this week that I've barely had time to think about Dec 1. The application-interview process is so long and drawn out that I grew numb to thinking about dental school - weeks ago - it's been out of my hands for a month.
This is how I look at it ... if I am stressing right now - I've got it backwards. The pressure is on the Dental Schools, not us, to do the deciding. Just think about it. If anybody is up all night it shouldn't be us, but the admission counselors deciding who to admit. Once they do that - the pressure shifts from them to us. Right now it's their turn to decide - not mine. I'm enjoying the pressure being on them and not me for 24 more hours.
December 31 will be the real moment of truth because that's when bridges will have to be burned and things get set in stone - so to speak. The countdown doesn't end Friday - it starts over - because we've got 30 days to respond to any and all offers.
Thanks everyone - for sharing your thoughts ... these are some of mine.

Oh snaps!!! Tomorrow is the big day! Good luck everyone! If you don't hear back tomorrow, there's a chance you'll hear back the following day. If you don't hear back at all, don't be disheartened, we still have the rest of the cycle remaining. Keep in mind that students get accepted up until school starts. Keep your head up, send and receive positive vibes and remember that everything happens for a reason. My best wishes to you all. Keep those phones on full volume tomorrow and make sure you have an active voicemail.

Woke up 5 times last night... :/ Don't even know if I can go to sleep tonight...

I have a pharmacology quiz today at 4, haven't even looked at the chapters because I CAN'T FOCUS.
Thankfully the professor drops the lowest quiz grade because this one will be bad.

Husband has a work Christmas party we have to go to at 6pm, I'm hoping it can actually distract me for a little bit. But realistically, I'll be checking SDN:dead:

Pals! I feel like lots of school start calling around 9:00 a.m. Pacific time, which is 12 p.m. Eastern on 12/1. So technically for people on the east coast, we still have more than 24 hours until decision time?

I have one school that calls and one that emails, so I have 14 hrs for one and 26 hrs for the other [emoji21]
