Does anyone have ideas on how to creatively inform your family members (if you get acceptances). I most likely won't see my parents Friday but want to surprise them at home Saturday morning with any news. (thinking positively rn lol...if i dont get accepted its gonna be a different kind of day)

Buy a shirt from the school and wear it while telling them! Just an idea haha
 
Like many of you I am just hoping to get into dental school - ANYWHERE. But, I was invited to nine interviews and attended seven of them. I believe I have a good chance of being accepted to more than one school and there is the possibility that my three top choices all offer. Actually - they are all top choices in the sense that I could be happy at any of them ... but this means - Dec 1 could present a whole new batch of stress. I may drive my family crazy with my "what to do" pressure all through Christmas ... Anybody else dealing with this particular anxiety?

I feel like having to pick between schools would be more of a relief than a stressor

I know what you mean. Up until this last week I’ve been convincing myself that the choice will be made for me. Now that we’re here, reality is kind of hitting me that it might not be that way. You’ll always think back when you’re having a stressful moment during D1 and be like...did I do it right? lol but it will just be our stress.

Did you take a lot of notes during the interviews? There’s a lot of students representing most of the schools in other parts of the forums. You could even find some of the students on FB and message them. Usually most people are nice and honest about it. Don’t base your decision on one response though.

We can do this! Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and that we relish in the fact that in a couple days we might not need to explain ourselves over and over any longer.

Can't wait until this week is over! I only applied to two schools and interviewed at both .. so waiting for Dec 1st is nerve wracking but I think we should all acknowledge that we've done the best we can thus far- there really isn't much else we can do but wait! Best of luck to us all, hopefully we'll be on here sharing our acceptances in a week! 🙂
 
I was keeping myself fairly calm all these months, but now that the moment is so near I getting more and more stressed- I keep eating everything in sight, my stomach is in knots, and I'm on edge. It's such an exciting time for all of us. It's surreal to imagine what life will be like a year from now in dental school. I really hope that you all get accepted. Lord knows we've all put in a lot of effort to chasing the dental dream. Crossing my fingers and toes crossed for all of us!
 
So how many people have already started looking on the internet for apartments for each school you’ve interviewed at? Please don’t tell me I’m the only one who’s doing that!

Me! I think I can get a nice apartment or house to rent with spare rooms for fellow students to sublease. One advantage of being non-traditional!

Ew. Too much extra costs. Living with my parents luckily. Although, if I did have the chance (i.e: living was paid for, like a scholarship type thing) I'd definitely live out of my parents' home. It's an experience. If you have the chance and don't mind the costs, do it.
 
The closest dental school is 2 hrs away so I am definitely going to have to move. My fiancé is applying to physical therapy schools everywhere I applied to dental school so we have been looking apartments where we interviewed to get an idea of where we would live after we get married! its fun but its hard since we still don't know where we will be living in a year haha

I'm living in probably the most dental-school dense area in the US with 4 pretty close to me, but I'm right smack in the middle of all of them so like each is about a 1-2hr commute if I were to do it from where I live. T.T

I haven’t lived with my parents since I was 18, so I will be living on my own, but you make it work. The important part is to stick to a budget. No need to “ew” at the situation for those of us who aren’t lucky to save some extra money on living expenses 🙂 I know you don’t mean it in a bad way but still.

As a married woman with a kid, I would never want to live with my parents. I'll happily pay extra NOT to:laugh:

People don't just live on their own for dental school because they can afford it. Everyone has different life situations. Some people don't live near a dental school, some don't have a home situation conducive to studying, some are expected to leave, and so on. The people that are taking out loans to afford their own place are not doing it just for the experience, but oftentimes that is their only way to be able to get through school. Another possibility is that they actually enjoy living on their own, in which case, the cost is worth it in the end.

I haven't lived with my parents since I was 18 (13 years ago), and now I live 2500 miles away. My goal is to find a nice place to rent with extra bedrooms so fellow dental students can split the cost with me. I would love to live rent free, but for me that isn't an option. Plus, it'll be an adventure!

I’m an older non traditional student too. I’ve been without roommates for so long I don’t think I could handle not having a place of my own anymore. Good Luck with roommates.

I am so scared eventhough I was interviewed very early. How do you guys know if the interview went well? I know they give applicants points for some school. So scared . I hope you all good luck on Friday.

My anxiety is at an all time high. I'm playing the interviews back in my head, one I think I did really well. The other it was really hard to read. Good luck to you, and everyone else! This is our year!

The exact same symptoms are happening with me right now lol. I don't even remember everything we talked about during the interview and thats what scares me most. I placed my phone on the interview table during the interview but I didn't think about recording it before . We have made it this far and I hope things will work out at end for everyone.
