Countdown Until December 1st 2017

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Makes sense! We’ll make sure to update us when you get in 🙂
Sure will! Same to you. I was interviewed with the very first group so I was waiting for like 3 months. But I didn't feel so anxious like these days. I guess I should stop thinking about it and study for my finals instead . I hope Dec 1st will bring good news for you and everyone else on this thread.

Spent a whole day trying to decipher what "check back on dec 1" means and being salty about not getting the same status change. I said screw it about 15 ago and popped open a bottle of wine and watching the office now. #YOLO #ididntwantmystatustochangeanyway #jkplsacceptme

Same, i spent like two days looking and i got the general feeling that those who got the status change to "Check back Dec. 1st" early on got accepted, and i asked current dental students and they said they had that change. However, i am probably just hoping this is true because i got the status change in october.. I wish everyone the best of luck!

Tomorrow is the halfway point for the week! 🙂

Are most people getting "Check back Dec 1" ?? I don't have that status for any of the schools I interviewed at.

I think it really just depends on the school. For me i have "check back Dec. 1st" for Iowa while all my others are either "Received/Application Complete" or "Received/Under Review"

I only have it for one school. My top school doesn't even change the status, it says none and I interviewed in september.

Which schools are people getting the "check back on december 1st" update for?

My BU and UNE still says invited for interview

I watched 4 episodes of Glitch 2 and still didn't fall asleep. I guess I am not going to my 8 AM class today

To everyone who is feeling anxious, I have some unsolicited advice. Just remember that this situation is like schrodinger's cat. Since we are waiting for a decision (the box is not opened), we are neither accepted nor denied (cat is neither dead nor alive) and we cannot know until Friday (when we open the box). The point is, since you can't know, it is a great time to relax and not worry about any results (it'll probably make time go faster too 😉 )

Does anyone else already have post-December interviews? Because I have one and it takes away from the anxiety but also takes a little away from the excitement because if I were to get accepted I wouldn’t know which to choose. But either way I’d be super ecstatic about being accepted a dental school

So hard to focus on studying for my last 3 back-to-back exams tomorrow with Friday on my mind... Does anyone know if most schools update AADSAS on midnight of Friday?

Some will, but most schools will notify you first before your status change on AADSAS.

Ran into a D1 student and an ortho professor who just happened to be sitting next to each other on the train this morning. They told me not to worry if I don't hear this Friday because the process can go up to may, which made me feel a little better butttttt I'm too impatient and I know ill be down if I don't hear this week lol

Crazy thought: the decisions have already been made. The answers are sitting in a box somewhere in an admissions office.
I personally know someone who is on the admission’s board at a school I applied at. The decision was made on November 18th, and he has kept it a secret. Won’t tell me NOTHING!

Do they make the decision right after you interview or do they do all pre December interviews and then compare everyone?

While this is true, it is most definitely in a school's interest to pick their top picks on December 1. consider the alternative. Imagine a school waited until after to pick its top candidates, that would mean those students would already commit to other schools.

Some schools have like weekly meetings to judge that weeks candidates. For example if they have like 100 seats and ten interview days they are looking to fill about ten seats an interview. Not all schools work the same though but I imagine most try to meet pretty soon after they interview you so that they don't forget since they see so many students

True but I heard schools don't send all acceptances December 1st. For example, if there are 100 seats in a class, they may send 50-60 on the 1st and fill the rest as the months go on.

That depends on the school. Some schools aren't offering post December interviews

I think comparing everyone after all pre-Dec. interviews would give an unfair advantage to those that interviewed late in November as opposed to those that interviewed in August/September. My guess is that they meet immediately after the interview and discuss if you're in or not.
