Countdown Until December 1st 2017

True but I heard schools don't send all acceptances December 1st. For example, if there are 100 seats in a class, they may send 50-60 on the 1st and fill the rest as the months go on.
you're forgetting, if a school sends out 50-60 acceptances, only about half will be accepting those invitations. Think about how many interviews some people have. most people getting in december 1st probably have another option or 2. Therefore, if they accept 50, I wouldnt be suprised if they only get 20-25 people responding yes to that. That means they will need to fill 75- 80 seats with post-December interviews, a less than ideal proposition from the schools perspective if you ask me. What's your take on this logic?

I feel like if a school is not going to extend the total number of acceptances that they would at least give out most knowing that they will have a lot of people commit to other schools.

Like I said, it is what I have heard based on previous threads. Not like we have answers to all of these questions.

From what ive seen (and take this with a grain of salt) majority of schools technically fill all of their seats on dec 1st, however people will decline offers here and there after they pick their school of choice and that creates space for post december applicants.

I heard the same thing. That admissions make decisions on November interviews right after their interviews

Why would schools not aim to to fill most, if not all their spots on Dec 1?

If I get an acceptance on Dec 1 from one school, and hear nothing from another, I'm going to secure the acceptance.

School #2 lost a candidate due to withholding an immediate decision.

Do they make the decision right after you interview or do they do all pre December interviews and then compare everyone?
At the particular school he is a board member of, they interview everyone and met all day on November 18th to decided who they wanted to extend openings to.

Maybe that's true at some schools, but at my interviews at Michigan and Penn they said that they accept way more people than their actual class size because they know not everyone will accept their offers. I wanna say they accept about 20-30 over their class size, so that should give us some hope!

from what i heard, they usually accept 1.5 to 2 times their class size.

I'm most likely going to fall asleep at my usual time (very easy for me to sleep) and wake up at like 3-4 am having panic attacks, just to check my phone to not see any e-mails.

Then I'll be having panic attacks until 7-8 am in bed.

I feel like I am going to be super anxious and too wired to sleep so I will probably watch netflix until I can't keep my eyes open anymore and wake up super early

try my method. dont even try to go to bed before 1:30. be productive. Do work, mow your lawn, mow your neighbors law, whatever keeps you busy. THEN go to sleep. you'll be out in minutes.

Hiya 🙂 Good luck to us all! I read somewhere on here that people are getting "Check back Dec. 1st on AADSAS" notifications. I was wondering if there were any specific schools that are doing this? And is it good/bad?

There was that year where UDM sent over their allowed seats Dec 1, expecting a lot of declines and had to enroll more than was allowed because a ton of people accepted.

My last name start with Z, and I am on the west coast, if I hear things back Friday, I will be the last one to get calls, extra torturing, just what I need.

I think they call applicants depending on how early they were interviewed and not by their last names? Someone correct me if I am wrong!

That depends on the school. Some schools aren't offering post December interviews

Both true. Interviewed at Indiana and they don't do Post Dec. interview. Will be interviewing in Minnesota in Jan, and they said specifically in the email that you are competing for an available spot, not alternative. That means they still won't have their class filled which gives me hope!🙂

Yeah same thing with West Virginia school of dentistry, they state it in their website too. 75% of seats will be given on Dec 1st. That leaves 25% of available seats for post Dec interviews.

I’m the complete opposite! I’m on the east coast and my last name starts with an A haha. Good luck to you!

how do you know they go by last name? It seems pretty random based on the last few years. Although east coast to west coast does seem likely due to time difference.

do you guys know if UCSF decide on the day of the interview or after they interview everyone?
THANKS!

I gave a presentation today of my undergraduate research and my mentor told the whole room that if I seem nervous its because I'm waiting to see if I got into dental school and then said that he would bet all that he had on the fact that I got in, hopefully he wasn't wrong 😢
