Hi! This is very petty but I'd like some guidance. I did some calculations and found that depending on how I classify my undergraduate research courses (I've heard it can either go into your science GPA or all other GPA), my science and all other GPA change slightly. Which combination would be more favorable to med schools? A significantly higher all other GPA or a slightly higher science GPA?

Option 1 (classify research courses as science):
science GPA: 3.735
all other GPA: 3.8

Option 2 (classify research courses as non science):
science GPA: 3.75
all other GPA: 3.75

Overall GPA is 3.75 for both.

You always want a higher science GPA, in this case though I barely see a difference and it will most likely not matter.

I agree that a higher BCPM GPA is preferred, but either way it goes for you, you're above the average matriculating med student stats-wise for both parameters.

Also I think amcas will ultimately decide for you. If you classify them as non-science, they may change that to science. FWIW, I classified my research courses as science and they did not change it.

How were your research courses designated on your transcript?

In that case, I'm not sure you'll get away with non-science. Best to just play it safe
I was verified June 4 or something. I was just answering a question. Maybe he meant to quote op.

Just letting op know they can change the classifications if they don’t agree with it, so it’s best not to get your hopes up on a specific gpa based on how you classify courses.
