This isn't an issue about me potentially getting a B.

Back story:
I'm a senior and I'm currently applying to 9 pharmacy schools. I already submitted my PharmCAS and most of my supplementals. My applications say my major is Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Chemistry. To complete the minor, nutrition advisors tell us to take Analytical Chemistry for non-majors, but because of the availability of the class, I decided to take Analytical Chemistry for majors. I heard that the class I signed up for was manageable, but we had a change in professors and now the class is impossible, with class average exam grades of 58.

Problem:
To be honest, even with the possibility of a curve, I doubt I can get a C (we don't do +/-). But with other more important classes in my schedule (like molecular bio and upper-div nutrition classes), I've considered withdrawing from the class and just try to complete my minor next semester or even dropping the minor altogether. I didn't do well my freshman year, and in my essays I mentioned that I have been improving since then.

Question:
So, my question is, should I withdraw from the class? Not doing well in this class will completely invalidate whatever I've said in my essays, but I'm wondering if a W will look better on my transcripts instead of a C (or even a D). This class isn't required for any pharmacy pre-requisites, so does it even matter? Would it also look bad if I end up dropping my minor? Thank you!

Will your university allow you to withdraw this late in the semester? If you will get a grade lower than a C, I would suggest to withdraw but that is just me.

Yes, they'll let me withdraw, but it will show up as WP on my transcript. Thank you for your opinion!

Is a "WP" different than just a "W"

If it is what I am thinking, a WP will still count as an F. In this case, I would stick with your class and do whatever you have to in order to get above a C

For us, a WP means that I withdrew the class but I was still passing. I don't know exactly what the abbreviation is, but it still indicates that I waited until late in the semester to withdraw from the class

WP means withdrawal with passing grade I believe. I say If you REALLY don't think you can make at least a C it would be wise to drop.

So it seems the consensus is to drop below a C.. Thanks for your advice guys!

But what about dropping the minor? How badly would it look if I just dropped the minor altogether? Or would that at all help my cause?

In my three years as a pharmacy student, I had never once even considered a major/minor and I have been accepted into a couple programs so far. I wouldn't even worry about it. Change it to basket weaving if you want to. All that seems to really matter is if you have the prerequisite courses done or not.

Interesting. A minor isn't even required for my major, since I'll be getting a BS. I basically chose that minor in order to add extra "fluff" on my applications. What say ye?
