I went to PSU from Summer 2016 to Fall 2017. I'm in SJU from Fall 2018 to Spring 2022. Here's a table of my credit hours distribution:

2016201720182019202020212022
Spring91419147
Summer668
Fallwithdrewwithdrew1416227

AMCAS defines the following:

Freshman (FR)0 through 35 semester hours
Sophomore (SO)36 through 65 semester hours
Junior (JR)66 through 95 semester hours
Senior (SR)96+ semester hours

AMCAS also states:

Do not assign more than one status to an academic term.

Here's a table of my cumulative credit hours:

2016201720182019202020212022
Spring154984120142
Summer621128
Fall6213565106135

Here's a table of my academic statuses distribution:

2016201720182019202020212022
SpringFRSOJRSRSR
SummerFRFRSR
FallFRFRFRSOSRSR

Here's a table of my credit hours distribution, per academic statuses:

Freshman (FR)35
Sophomore (SO)30
Junior (JR)19
Senior (SR)58

I transitioned from Junior to Senior status in the middle of Fall 2020. Of 22 credits, half of them finish my Junior status (84 + 11 = 95), and half of them start my Senior status. If I were instead to assign Fall 2020 Junior status, my credit hours distribution per academic statuses would be the following:

Freshman (FR)35
Sophomore (SO)30
Junior (JR)41
Senior (SR)36

What academic status should I assign Fall 2020? Am I doing this right? Thanks in advance!

You could probably assign them Jr status, just so you have more balance. I doubt it'll really matter for your application.

I called AAMC, and they said an academic term is Summer to Spring (i.e. Summer 2016, Fall 2016, and Spring 2017).

That changes my academic statuses distribution to:

2016201720182019202020212022
SpringFRFRSOJRSR
SummerFRFRSR
FallFRFRFRSOJRSR

That changes my credit hours distribution, per academic statuses to:

Freshman (FR)49
Sophomore (SO)35
Junior (JR)36
Senior (SR)22

I might call again to double check.
