What should I do if there are 1 or 2 classes I still need to take (but since I'm not in school I'm not taking them yet)? Can I just take them if I get accepted before I start? Should I put this on AMCAS somewhere?

Specifically my problem is Gen Chem. At my school, I placed out of the first quarter of Gen Chem and went right to the 2nd quarter of Honors Gen Chem. The 2 quarters I took were honors and included extra lab courses and covered all and more than was in the year course. BUT, it looks like med schools aren't going to accept this 🙁 So, I need to take another quarter...do I have to say where I'm going to take in and when on AMCAS????

PLEASE HELP(I'm ready to turn in my AMCAS application and need to know)!!!! Thanks!

Maybe you should call AMCAS or the schools you're interested in and ask. Did you place out because of AP credit?

Hi -

You really don't need to have the courses done at the time you apply. Its only required at the time of matriculation. I have more than 5 courses that I need to complete in the year of application, but I've been told that it isn'tit a problem - of course assuming that i get a decent mcat score.

All the best to you

Yup, I've also heard you only have to have the pre-reqs done before matriculating...as for putting it on AMCAS, if you can't get ahold of them to ask then just leave it off...I doubt that any med school will scrutinize your app to make sure you've taken, or have specific plans as to where and when you take, all their pre-reqs...

A different but related question on AMCAS and coursework that I can't find the answer to on the AMCAS help pop-up window because my computer's being a bitch - should I bother entering coursework that I received no credit for but it appears on my transcript? It's all PE and intercollegiate athletics and only has a grade of "pass"...

Liz , I would if I were you. Better to be a little over than a little under I always say.
