How is this answer C?

I looked at the explanation and it does not match up proportionally?

I still think that E is the best answer. What do you guys think?

I came across that one recently, too. Its a tricky one, but the picture you linked only shows half the story if I remember correctly. The other images will help you out a bit more. I have one question. Are the two images a square and a rectangle, or are they both rectangles? I am pretty sure they are both rectangles, and that is what led me to go with C. E, looks too much like a "V" and should be a bit more looking like a rotated "L" imo

Hey, I think they are both rectangles also.

This is what the explanation for side E shows, which in my opinion looks wrong. Shouldn't the right side be connected to the right side as it is shown in the problem?

Its definitely a goofy looking problem. I originally thought that the heights of the background rectangle were a little off. The explanations might not help in trying to figure out why others are not wrong. They may only help with showing why C is right.. Which is not really something you can learn from too well. I wouldn't sweat it too much, but that's just me.

I got this question wrong too but now I know why. When you look at choice E, the triangle "sticking out" looks very square. In the actual image, the block sticking out is actually a rectangle. Since the diagonal corners of the rectangle match up to the sides of the larger rectangle, choice E shouldn't be half of a square but half of a rectangle sticking out at the bottom. I hope that made sense (so hard describing PAT concepts in words... >.<)

I think it's actually the different heights of the large rectangle, that's why E is wrong. The large rectangle is actually more trapezoidal I think.
