CPR & X-ray Certification?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I hope that they're something that could help an app; I don't have x-ray certification, but I do have CPR, bloodborne pathogens training, and oxygen administration. So, yeah, anyone who knows if this sort of thing actually is useful on applications, please speak up! 🙂

I am trained as an EMT-basic, I put it under Extracurricular/volunteer/ community service. I see it as a community service activity, because you get certified to help those around you. I would do the same for xray, and cpr training. I think it shows involvement in your community even if you've never had to use it.

Huh, I never thought about it that way, but that's really a great way to classify it. 👍

I would be surprised if CPR certification meant anything to adcoms. Everyone who works in healthcare has to be certified so it's nothing special. EMT training is unique though.

X-ray certification only means something in the states that require it (like California) so I wouldn't include it in the app unless you're trying to focus on those states. Most states allow on-the-job training for taking dental x-rays (which I think they shouldn't!).
