hello all, have you guys heard of the Crash Course Series review books. It's kind of similar to BRS, but from the UK. I looked at some of those books and they seem really good. Have any of you tried it in your classes? How did you guys like it? Thanks,

I used some of the books in this series, and found that they helped a lot for confusing things (like renal physiology/pathophysiology). They were not however all the same -- some were more useful than others, and in the end they're not as useful as BRS for studying for Step 1.

thanks for the post ilianasedai, so which books did you find useful? I just looked at a few because the bookstore at school doesn't have them all. Anatomy seems like a good book, which ones would you recommend for sure!? I tried looking at student comments about these books, but because they are a series from out of the country hardly anybody uses them here. anybody else tried/heard of the these books? Thanks for the replies.

Personally, I discovered crash course midway through the year in a back corner of the bookstore. Between crash course and Costanzo's Physiology, I got through the last few months of school. Loved Endocrine/Reproductive (distills all the crap down to the essentials), thought GI was pretty darn good, but Neuro was helpful only if you have no background. I just picked up Cardiovascular to review over the summer because I totally didn't get the material the first time around. Overall: 👍

I'd love to get physio stuff as well as for anatomy.

I have used many of the Crash Course books and I am a big fan. I find then invaluable for revision. They have been written by senior students and new medical graduates who still remember what students really need to know. I don't always have the time to wade through the larger texts and these cut straight to the point.

I cannot say how useful they are for US students and the Step 1 & 2 exams.

so can you say that u would have done as well with just Constanzo without crash course physio part?

Hmmm... Hard to say. I think Costanzo was great for the basic concepts, but I really liked having the added benefit of Crash Course because (1) I personally needed to go a bit deeper than Costanzo because I just don't get material on the first pass through (2) Crash Course includes pathology which was and will be super helpful. I tried Costanzo + B&B "Medical Physiology" for the first part of the year, but ended up sleeping in my books more than reading them. I thought the Costanzo + Crash Course was a pretty good combo for me, but everyone has a different level and study need.
