Credit by Institutional/Departmental Exam

Under Classification of Course Work,

First Question
I'm just wondering what would be the difference btw
1) N/A and
2) Credit by Institutional/Departmental Exam
Indicate if you have received credits on your transcript for successful completion of an institutional or departmental examination

Is the second one special classification?
So..most of courses are N/A classification?
