Just wanted to tell you people to make sure your prereqs will count at the schools you are applying to. Common sense, I know, but I have credit for English 1101 through an SAT II Examination, so I didn't have to take it at Georgia Tech. I didn't foresee a problem at all but when I talked to UCSF, they told me they wouldn't accept it, even though it shows on my transcript, because they only accept AP credit. The only way around this would be to actually take English 1101 (there's no way in hell I would do that at this point!) So my question is, are there other schools that have similar stipulations? The others I am applying to don't seem to have a problem.

From what I've read I'm guessing that because your SAT score was at a certain level Georgia Tech gave you credit for english but UCSF wont accpet this "credit" because it was not earned from an AP exam. My advice, take the class...easy A!

I had to take a billion english courses because my school did not think AP lit test scores were good enough ( they required a staggering 12 credits of english for everybody.. not just pre pharm)

Exactly... actually it was an SAT II Exam, not SAT I. However I have other prereqs that are more important at the moment than English... so I will forgo the easy A and just not apply to UCSF, which isn't too big a loss for me.

If I remember correctly, all CA schools, except UOP, accept only AP credits...UC Berkeley waived me out of both Reading and Comprehension I and II b/c of my IB Higher Level English test scores, which were not accepted by the CA schools--UOP gave me credit for only English I...So I went through 4 more months of English I and II... 😱 Just suck it up; easy A's though =)
