Creighton Interviews 2008-2009

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I really really want to get an invite...I sent Creighton an email last week notifying them that a 4th reference was being submitted to PharmCAS (even though they only take 2..I thought I'd at least tell them).
They called me the next day (VERY impressed with who I talked to) and told me that my application was complete and would be reviewed the next day, on Thursday evening, and that I was "academically competitive."
Then on Friday morning I got an email from them (standard sort, I believe) telling me that my app was complete and ready to be reviewed. Which confused me, because I thought it had been reviewed the night before. Oh well...I'm just so anxious to hear from them that I'm over-analyzing things! 🙂
Should I expect to hear from them within the week (if it's good news - for an interview)?

Good luck IrishOats!

I don't know when you could expect to hear back - but hopefully it is soon! It is finals week (not that it affects admissions that much!), but they may be delayed a few days if members of the adcom are busy with finals this week. (Just a guess - I don't know!).

Wow, that's an interesting info for us to know! Thanks. I wish someone would tell me this for all the other schools I applied to, so I know exactly when to stalk my email rather than checking them every minute!

Well darn it...hopefully I will get an email this Friday then, cause I didn't get one yesterday. 🙁
Maybe because it is finals week, things are slowed down a bit?
Thanks for the good luck wishes!

I just got an interview invite yesterday for January 23. I am very excited about it. Creighton is one of my top schools. Does anyone have any hotel advice or advice on the interview? Thanks I am way excited!

Congrats!

There are a few threads on Creighton here; check them out. PM me if you have any specific questions 🙂

Check your email. Interview invites are being granted today 🙂.

Anyone from the 12/05/08 interviews heard back yet? 😀

I interviewed for the campus pathway on 12/5 and received my acceptance today, so they should be on the way if you haven't heard yet.

Congratulations! Let me know if you have any questions prior to accepting or declining.

For anyone who has already had an interview at Creighton, what happened on interview day? Is there an essay for instance?

I got an invite yesterday! 😀
Now I just have to decide if I want the 23rd of January or the 6th of February.

Hooray I just got accepted to Creighton-campus pathway! 🙂🙂 I interviewed 12/5 and it came in the mail today.

They are all coming snail mail. Whether or not you are accepted they said we should hear by Christmas (for the 12/5 interview) by mail.

I got a rejection letter via snail mail today. I was actually surprised that they send out rejection letters this early in the game.

I have an interview on Feb 6 for distance pathway.. I have never been to Omaha area before. Any first timers? If anybody is interested in hanging out/exploring the city together after the interview, let me know. 🙂

When did you get the interview invite? I'm wondering if they are doing any reviewing this week - with Christmas and all I didn't think so... anyone know??? If I get an interview, I'd love to explore with you! 🙂

I'm interviewing the 6th, but I'm a local - been there, seen that! Let me know if you have any questions! See you then and good luck!

I'll be there on the 6th as well for a distance interview. Have you heard any tips for the day yet? I'm coming in from Kansas, so I'm not staying the night, but I think it would be fun to get together for dinner or something before I head out of town.

We did Spaghetti Factory after my interview last year... there's also Old Chicago or the Upstream, in addition to others, down in the Old Market not too far from campus.

Anybody who has went to the interview or is from the area have a recommendation for a taxi company or shuttle from the airport? I was going to do it all through a hotel but its looking like I'm going to have to do everything all in one day, so I need something that is reliable.

The main page of the link they sent you lists several reputable options.
A & B Shuttle: (877) 359-6624
Happy, Yellow, and Checker Cabs: (402) 339-TAXI
Safeway Cabs Inc.: (402) 342-7474
Shared Mobility Coach: (402) 345-6640

Of these I'd recommend the Happy Cab, et al. they are the largest outfit and will have the most cabs available. NOTE: the number listed in the phone book is different than what Creighton listed on that site... if that # doesn't work try (402)333-8294 (taxi). You shouldn't have any problem getting a quick cab at the airport, since they are normally lined up a discreet half block from the entrance waiting for fares. When you are ready to leave, make sure you are clear where on campus you want to be picked up and be prepared for a little bit of a wait - Omaha isn't really a public tansportation city and while the those services are available, the saturation is pretty low.

Also keep in mind that the weather in Nebraska (like most of the plains) is randomly unpredictable, in Febuary figure on cold and/or snow, slush, mud.

On the plus side, the airport is only a few miles from the campus, so your cab fare will be pretty minimal. If you have the time after your interview, a quick dinner in the old market will keep you in the area (although I wouldn't recommend trying to walk there from the campus). There are a wide variety of places to eat within a few blocks, along with some interesting shops, artists and music to pass the time.

Good luck to you, and I hope you enjoy your visit!

I stayed at Best Western Seville and if you call them when you get to the airport they will be there in 5-15 minutes and will take you to Creighton and drop your bags off at the hotel. The hotel is within walking distance to Creighton, but being dressed up and cold you'll want the shuttle ride. There is no charge for the shuttle. They will take you anywhere within 5 miles, so I went to Old Market one time too. It is a great place to stay and the staff is very friendly.

I second that. I think Best Western Seville Plaza is the best hotel to stay at. It is very close to Creighton. Infact, its about a block from Creighton University Medical Center. Its about 3 blocks from Creighton Campus. They have free wifi there and a complimentery continental breakfast. They also provide shuttle to anywhere from around morning to 11 PM at night free of charge. Its a Best Western so its not going to be pricey like the the Mariott or the others in the Old Market and won't provide all the complimentery things that the BW provides.

I got my invitation to interview today!!! I'm SO excited! 🙂 I'll be there Feb. 6th to interview for the distance program. I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing the questions that they asked the interviewers... I know that's probably a dumb question. 🙂 I feel like I can answer any question that they will ask me - but, when it gets to the end and they ask me if I have any questions, what did you guys ask? I've done enough research and asked enough questions already that I can't really think of anything else I need/want to know... Thanks!!!

krys2001,

Congrats on the interview! I'm a P1 and remember what it was like last year to be in your position. Make sure to wear a suit, b/c they state that in their letter to you. Also, as previously stated by another P1...be able to explain why you chose pharmacy and why you chose CU. But beware of the B.S.! I was told by a person in admissions after the interviews that a major purpose of the interview is to weed out the BSers and those who are socially incompetent. They want to see that you can relate to people and have great comm skills. They will see through BS very quickly. If the $$ is part of the reason you're going into pharm, don't try to hide it. But, you should be able to talk about their Ignation Values and why at least a few are important to you. Honestly....we all had very different interview experiences. Some got asked the above questions. I was asked only a few and my interviewers were done very quickly. I made sure to add to the dialog and start convo to keep the interview going.
Also, they don't have your file in front of them! Everything that got you to the interview is useless. It's an equal playing field at that point. Everyone has the smarts to be there. What will get you in now is you! As well, if you made it to the interview, you deserve to be at CU. It took me two years to get in, but it's worth it! They will do their best to make you feel welcome that day. It's a marvelous school with wonderful faculty and a very special student body. Waiting for the acceptance letter is the hardest part. It could be a nauseating two weeks! Good Luck to you, have fun and see a bit of Omaha while you're there!!!

Hi, I'm new to SDN and have an interview for Creighton's distance pathway on Feb. 6. I'm wondering if anyone has a rough estimate of how many people who interview will be accepted (~how many people are interviewed)? Thanks in advance!

Approximately 50% of those who interview are accepted. Good luck!

How long from the time you send in your application to an interview?

I submitted my application about 5 days ago since i was so busy with all the california apps and i just wanted to know the CU's process. I am applying for the distance pathway. Any information would greatly be appreciated

I'm interviewing this Friday, March 27th. I was just wondering is it too late to be interviewed? Should I be worry about my chance of getting in? My flight is 2 hour (7pm) after the interview which they say the process should end by 5pm, should I call a cab way before that time. I just don't want to be late since it's the last flight of the day to leave Omaha.
