Hello all,

I hope acceptance day treated you all well! I am very excited to start my journey into my dream profession! I received three acceptances yesterday and one wait list so far! :soexcited:I am trying to make my final decision sooner than later and I have narrowed it down to Creighton and Minnesota. I am a South Dakota resident which would give me in-state tuition at the University of Minnesota. With this it is hard for me to pass on the opportunity to attend U of M with the savings. At the same time I love the clinical aspect and the state of the art facilities at Creighton. Further detail, I have multiple family members and friends that live in Minneapolis making it an ideal place for my wife and I. On the other hand, my cousin is currently a D2 at Creighton which makes my decision even more difficult.

Any advice would be much appreciated thank you again for your time! :claps:

Best of luck to all of those still waiting! Your time will come!:highfive:

If minnesota is cheaper (which I assume it is if you are in state) go to Minnesota

I heard Creighton sets up their students well for private practice.

As with every other thread here asking "Which school should I go to?" There is but one answer, and one alone:

Go to the cheapest school.

Sincerely,
Your future practicing self paying off debt

Thank you all for your kind comments, I was thrown a bone last night as UMKC offered me a scholarship that basically gives me in-state tuition.

The price difference is now UMKC 263k, Minnesota 328k Creighton 390ish. I wasn't really considering UMKC until I received the letter in the mail last night and now I am considering all three? I know Minnesota and Creighton will both be better fits for me, but its hard to not choose the cheapest option. I feel stuck now at this point.

Thank you for your time! 🙂

WOW. That price difference--I'd got to UMKC looking at that list! I didn't know the difference in cost between MN and Creighton was that large. I might have to reconsider Creighton myself. LOL.

Yes pretty crazy price difference I agree! I thought the decision was going to be easy and now it has became highly difficult to make any sort of decision... I have absolutely no idea what I am going to do at this point. Are you leaning a certain way at this point?

I am unsure--your post made me think a lot about my decision too, DANG IT! I would probably go with the cheapest option--like most people are saying here, what we get out of dental school is what we put into it. Looking at each school you have there, the difference between each is either $60,000ish or $120,000ish. That might not seem like a lot when you consider UMKC is already $263,000, but it will take a little bit longer to pay off (we have not even included interest yet; haha). Honestly, prior to applying, I thought any dental school that would cost me in the $200,000's would be golden. If I were in your position, I would choose UMKC easily! 😀 (Plus, what an honor to be presented with that scholarship! That is a BIG deal--you have already made a great impression! Congratulations! 😀)

Thank you so much Save the Molar Bears for the kind post! 😍I really appreciate it, I am very excited so many wonderful opportunities, but you make a great point with having any option under 300k sounds like a great opportunity. Thank you again for the great insight I really appreciate it. Crazy how this decision has went from trying to get in anywhere to now trying to pick and choose the best option. 👍
