My freshman year of college, I was at a football game and was arrested for underage possession of alcohol (holding a closed beer can). I was not intoxicated. I went through a pre-trial diversion program which technically constitutes as a "no-contest" plea. How does this affect my medical school applications and licensure in the future? Would getting it expunged help?

On their own, the events described would not have a negative impact on one's getting into med schools or future licensure. Just be honest in explaining the circumstances.

if you can get it expunged then my understanding is that you do not report it on your app.

I would expunge it, but I don't think any med school will care. Be honest and don't say something dumb like "I was holding it for a friend."
