I am a guy and I am most comfotable sitting with my legs crossed as the ladies do. Is that a no-no especially with male interviewers? I figure female interviewers wouldnt care to much.

Thanks

well, if the interviewer is gay, you two might just hit it off 😍
umm...I dunno. If most people you know react to it strangely, I'd avoid it. If most people you know don't care about it, then I doubt the interviewer would care abouti t.

hey...michael corleone sat with his legs crossed...and you don't mess with michael corleone...

i've sat with my legs crossed at most of my interviews (not like a woman might, but crossed nonetheless), just because i feel less like it's an interrogation when i'm more comfortable. anyhow, at least at most schools, i would imagine that the interviewers are supposed to evaluate in a more objective and standardized manner, and couldn't imagine it would make much of a difference, though i do realize that sometimes really small things can entirely change how your words are interpreted.

I'm all about the ankle-to-knee leg cross. I think it's manly, poised, and respectful. Besides, it shows off my designer socks.

I read somewhere that crossing your legs is bad for circulation and encourages varicose veins (when it's knee to knee). Since those guys run in my family (my grandma and dad have them something awful 😱 ), I have always tried to just sit with my legs together, especially in important meetings. Helps me to concentrate, look attentive, stuff like that.

But I do cross my legs at the ankle to knee position when I'm chillin' 😀 I say: legs uncrossed in interview, but just my 0.02.

knee to knee has the potential to block your popiteal artery and vein (spelling may not be right).........which is why if you sit like that long enough your leg may feel numb

Don't cross your legs. I admit, if I was interviewing someone, I don't think I would notice, much less care. But a lot of what makes an impression is body language, and this might occur on a subconscious level. Crossing legs might mean almost anything depending on who you ask from relaxed to lazy to arrogant. Why do something that has even a 1% chance of giving a negative impression?

Better yet, get bi-lateral below-the-knee amputations before your interview. It'll give you a chance to check out the school's ortho program, while you're at it. And your insurance will cover it if you tell them you have ideopathic gangrene.

I think interviewers pay attention to body language. As I guy, I can't even imagine being able to cross my legs the way you describe, but we won't go there. As an interviewer, I would really be distracted by it, and I would think that it is a crutch - sort of like a podium that one uses to hide themselves when they are uncomfortable. But hey, whatever floats your boat!

So I'm a leg-crosser, you know the type that keeps one leg 90 degrees to the other. In my last interview I crossed my legs and as I did I noticed that I had a huge wad of gum that was holding a piece of paper to my shoe.

I think I've learned that I should look both ways (shoes) before crossing!

I worked for several years in the banking industry. Crossing your legs (knee-to-knee) is actually a power position. Ive sat like that at interviews (med school and jobs) for years. But I must warn you, its all about how you pull it off. If you cross your legs but hold your top foot too close to the other one, it might show:

1) You dont have a package in b/w..ahah

2) You are very flexible..

3) You are gay.

DOCTORSAIB

doctorsaib is definitely right.

as a guy, crossing your legs at the knee is a huge power position--but like he said, you can't keep your top foot close to the bottom foot or you'll look like a girl.

oh you men.. get over it. Here's how it works:

My dad = very skinny dude = able to sit with legs crossed.... definitely heterosexual

My boyfriend = very large football man (300+lbs) = not able to cross his legs if his life depended on it....definitely heterosexual

Ex-boyfriend = somewhat skinny dude (200 lbs) = never saw him cross his legs....possibly homosexual 🙂

There's absolutely no correlation with leg crossing and sexual orientation!! If you feel like crossing your legs, have the confidence to do it, especially if it's comfortable for you!!!!!

I SUPPORT LEG CROSSERS!!

Christine 😀
