cryptocurrency forum (bitcoin and more)

This is no different than someone holding your family hostage and asking for USD. If someone has significant holdings, only a ******* would advertise out loud how much they have. You destroy your wallets - who knows you have anything? No one.

So in the end there's essentially no use to Bitcoin.

A bit reductio ad absurdum, but you're entitled to your opinion. Some people are comforted by the decentralization of blockchain and the fact that they own their money, they pay with their money, and no one else is in charge of it - but without the physical risk of USD.

That's only one use case of cryptocurrency, in any case. An immutable ledger is more than just store of value, as has been discussed previously.

But they won't own it if this makes it and the banks take over.

So crypto people think the bank is going to what lose their money? It almost sounds like paranoia

The FDIC has insured holdings since 1933, so yeah, functionally there's really no difference in the U.S. How it would benefit you in other countries I don't know.

I guess we'll just have to see how this plays out.

It's time to go to sillicon valley crypto house to rob half a billion from a bunch of 20 yr old kids. I am not sure why no one thinks of this yet. Easy money for a criminal mastermind with a team. Can't be reversed, easily hidden, and moved around. Instant jack pot. Who is coming? LMAO

I am pretty sure it happened more than once but no one will ever admit they got robbed and lose all their fad wealth.

In my wife's country, nobody smart keeps their money in banks. One day the name of the bank will change and you'll lose your accounts. You had an account that bank, not this one. Money is kept in cash, tens of thousands of dollars, hidden in the apartment, behind two metal/solid wooden doors, where the police are reprimanded of wonton shooting of robbers by turning in their firearm (and being reissued another immediately).

Interestingly enough, it's the same thing with loans, which are harder to get and have higher interest rates. If you're wealthy enough, you simply don't pay back the loans and tie it up in court long enough for the bank to flip over again. Favorite tactic of my FIL.

bitcoin price still lingering at 10kish. i'm dollar cost averaging bi weekly. your boy is trying to cash out in the near future. let bitcoin pay off my students loans in due time

Started buying crypto recently. Coinbase puts a cap on how much you can initially buy and you have to wait 60 days before you can up the limit. I guess it was a good thing since it collapsed from 19k to 10k. Maybe by the time they lift the cap, it will be even more affordable.

For those buying Bitcoin, Robinhood will be launching in February Robinhood Crypto with immediate transfers and no fees. If making large orders, I'd wait until then.

Why not sell now and repurchase it when it hits $8000?

BTC can’t seem to hang on to $10,000. The dam is cracking and when it hits $8000, it is going to crack wide open.

Bitcoin is definately one of the weirder speculative assets we've ever seen. Primarily because it has political undertones to it. There is a subsection of crypto fans that will never let it die because they think the Federal Reserve is part of the Illuminati or some nonsense. Cracking the mettle of people in it for the money is one thing. There are actually people out there that think an inherently deflationary, volatile, and uncontrollable currency should replace the world's central banks because...I'm not really sure...but to completely crack Bitcoin, you have to crack an ideology.

It can be bought and sold with swing in trend if you wish. I trade primarily in other coins to accumulate bitcoin.

Going to 0 for the next 10 yrs 🙂

Cryptos truly have zero values in my opinions. Zero dividends, zero income....zero hard assets. It’s all speculative. I agree it will eventually come down, but probably not 0 because it’s still a great way for drug and illegal money to do business.

Whoever bought bitcoin at 19K, 20K...I am so sorry you are the bag holders.

Fiat currency to 0 in about 15 years.

Just having some fun with you my friend. Troll or not, get some BTC. My friendly advice to you. Due to hyper inflation of fiat currency, BTC might be 1.5 million in 2020. People will start catching on this year and moving fiat into crypto currency and tokens.

Only about 1% of people in US are in crypto. now. Maybe 10-15% by end of 2018. The fuedal system is going to fall apart over the next few years. This will be good for all of us. The sooner we free ourselves from our mental slavery, the better off we will be going forward.

Or not. Up to each of us to do our own research. Just trying to help. Take it as you will.

Namaste and God Bless

This is a big day for Bitcoin, it has solidly broken 10k. Now will it stick?

It's going back to 1000...and lower

Unfortunately no one knows the actual answer, I think it's 50/50 right here which makes it not investable.

Lol blows my mind when people act like they know 100% what will happen with crypto or stocks.

Be greedy when others are fearful. I’m being patient and sitting, I’ll return to crypto in due time, even if that is a few years from now.

If crypto is here a few years from now, you'll probably have missed the boat. If this makes it, there will come a time where this volatility is gone.

Bitcoin just broke 9k, I don't think this will stick though. Should bounce from here.

We will test 8k, most likely. Fear starting to set in in the market.

It is @9,000 now. If it goes below 8,000 within the next few days then the dam is been broken.....panic sells.
