cryptocurrency forum (bitcoin and more)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've got that 0.01 BTC just sitting there my wife asked me to get, but I'm waiting to see if ETH will get very far under 1k. If it goes below 800 I'll buy, but if not I'll just sit on what I have. TBH, the fall just makes me want to put in more.

Waiting for my paycheck to get myself a few hundred on ZRX, maybe some more in OMG or BAT. Also looking into LINK as a possible pickup as time goes on.

Why do you care of much?

I get it..it is hard to loss money. I just hope some people had listened to me, Momus, and others and didn’t buy BTC at 20 k.

You mean that they listened to me, made a ton of money, and got out.

There is no proof you made any money. You just want to claim you did so you can rub it in Momus’ face.

There may be no proof but I still did call my top.

Sold out of my gbtc position today. It's moving too much away from Bitcoin movement this month. Will get in after a correction. Its up over 300% in the past 3 months alone.
This was posted on December 13th. Made a ton of money.

Doesn't mean jack....No record of transaction.

Post your net worth and I'll post my transaction.

I don't see why I need a transaction. I've talked about Bitcoin for awhile last year.

Give me a break. You don’t need to be fake on a forum.

I guess that means your broke since there's no proof.

See how that sounds?

Bitcoin tested 8k, broke it but shot back up. Looks like the market isn't quite ready yet.

We'll see if it tries again today.

It's like watching a slow motion train wreck. I feel bad for the greater fools that were buying at $19,000. Congrats to everyone that took advantage of said greater fools.

You guys are acting like btc is at end game now... </=1% of the world population is involved in cryptocurrency at this point in time. What happens in the next several years when that percentage reaches to 5-10%? Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. Fact is, no one knows. There is still money to be made and money to be lost. Quit talking with crystal balls.

The tiny bit I invested in bitcoin i'm cool with losing (around 5k now worth 4). I'm riding this one out. Still hovering at 9k

This is true. But I'd think that the fact that superior tech (Etherium) is out would preclude it from being viable long term.

BTC needs to go under $8000 for its back to be broken.

I think it hit 7.7 G's last night.
7.6k on GDAX, 8k on BFX. Some TA says it was the bottom, but I'm not convinced. Buy pressure weak, so we'll probably see it go down further. For now I'm in fiat trading the dips. It's been a slow crawl and RSI has been hitting <25 frequently.

I agree. I actually meant crypto in general, but I stated btc initially. When crypto rises, btc will also and vice versa (to an extent).

BTC is testing $8,000 level again.

Leave the poor sod alone, e-peen is real.

Wow, bad day huh?

There's essentially no difference between in what I say and what you say, it's simply our opinion. Yet I'm the one with the huge ego?

That's the thing though, there is essentially nothing one can look at and say it goes this way from here. This is a pure 50/50 situation so I wouldn't invest at this point.

It's never a bad day. I live in Sun Diego ;-D

BMB calling you out LMAO! Real or not... I love the "Oh, I don't have proof yet I am always making 15,000% a year, never have a losing trade!"

I am sure I am the one with a huge ego here. No wonder you like trump so much.

I could care less if someone calls me out. I've said before I don't plan on ever posting my trades, that's not going to change.

Oh I had a losing trade, gilead. That's well known. Disney has also been a thorn in my side. And it was nearly 50% last year.

Facts are posted, I called the current top by three days.

BTC going to sh1t, there are many alternative "crypto/penny stocks" that might be better than BTC (having the first mover advantage).

I equate BTC as myspace/friendster. It's probably going to be replaced soon since no one uses it to do anything but holding it for the next greater fool to bid higher. Once there is no greater fool, it's going to crash more. The only buyers left to use BTC are corrupt tyrants, drug lords, dark net users who want to move fiat undetected. It might not necessarily become 0 until they find a better alternative to hide money.

And what do you think people use alternative "crypto/penny stocks" for? There isn't much real world use for the vast majority of these coins yet. They're in alpha stages and being traded purely on speculation. The same speculation is what fuels bitcoin's price crash and eventual surge to 20k, 30k, 50k, etc.

btw most bitcoin buyers are those using it to get into or out of alternate coins and trading on leverage. Not criminals lmao

His point is that the only true end users right now are people that have to move money in a subtle or (mostly) anonymous fashion. Everyone else is just a speculator. That would include people using bitcoin to speculate on other cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin is definitely less than 0.1% when compared to the criminal activity that banks and fiat currency are involved with. Not a concern for crypto right now. The market is way too small.

Right. Well, real currencies are used for everything. It's utility is...everything. So of course more illicit transactions overall will be used by traditional methods. Momus' point is that the utility for crypto right now is black market funding and avoiding taxation. Nobody is going to Walmart or anywhere and using bitcoin unless they happen to be going to the 0.0001% of places that accept it AND are doing just to make a point. So the true, intended end user (i.e. people using it as alternative banking) are very small in comparison to people that are just speculating.

Bitcoin back up to 9.4 G's lol

Everyone here thinks they have a crystal ball. I don't even pretend to predict the future.

Voting machine short term vs. Weighing matchine long term. Right now, we are at voting phase. Real utilities of BTC is 0. In the long run, market will weigh it as sh1t that has no value, it is a useless line of code.

That's why I say it's 50/50 and currently not investable.

I think both sides are fools if they actually think they know what will happen. Momentum is gone so I won't be getting in any time soon.

right now bitcoin is confined to a descending channel where you could trade it with 100% accuracy. that is, until is isn't anymore 😛

I "accidently" bought a bitcoin at $13,500. That was about 1 hour before this current crash. Since I bought it, it has never come back up. I knew it was a mistake buying it, so I called my bank and told them to freeze my account. I told them there should be no transactions going in or out. They did that. Coinbase couldn't take out my money, and the transaction wound up never going through. I deleted Coinbase the next day after they informed me the transaction was cancelled. It was really an accident, I just tapped the button by mistake. So glad I am not in crypto. It's such bullshi* with no value. Anybody can create a "coin" at anytime. Why are we rewarding people who own bitcoin and making them rich?

Bitcoin is a weird relic of the angst of the Great Recession. It was created because a bunch of right wing skeptics of central banks who thought that replacing government backed fiat currencies with their own inherently deflationary currency...which is also a fiat currency, hilariously...was the future. Almost a decade later, the central banks have pulled the world out of the worst recession since the Great Depression into a booming world economy with low inflation. So the entire premise of currencies needing to be decentralized is sort of a farce. Along with it the initial point of these things.

But that doesn't matter today. What matters is that these currencies have found utility in black market transactions and have lived on past their best by date in this capacity.

Now the technology that these currencies are built on is ingenious. Blockchain. This technology is novel and will live on. What happened is that the original right wing crypto evangelists never gave up their "antifiat" crusade and blockchain emerged as a technology that everyone wants to invest in.

People, for whatever reason, think that investing in a product USING a certain technology is the same as investing in that technology. Blockchain had no patents, so investing in it is impossible.

But because of these factors, people all of a sudden last year decided that Bitcoin, Etherium,Litecoin, etc were going to change the world banking system and it began to become more valuable. This caused speculators to notice. It began to snowball. A bubble formed. And here we are.

It's been fascinating to watch.

He seems to be someone who only supports/opposes things in extreme ways

I have been right most of the times. Isn’t that the most important thing?

You guys are at the 2nd stage of grief: anger.

Don’t get piss at me. I didn’t tell you to put your hard earned money into BTC.

Next stage: bargaining, probably when BTC hit around $6,000-7000.

Don’t blame the messenger. Blame your barber, your Uber driver, your youtuber, your pharmacist friend. They got you into this mess.
