Hi all.

I'm currently a post-bacc student. My undergraduate major was sociology from Berkeley with a cumulative GPA of 3.33.

Thus far, I have completed genchem1, calc 1, ochem 1 and physics 1 (and labs) and received all A's, except for a C+ in physics. This coming semester I am taking Bio II, Ochem II, and Physics II (with labs). I expect to get A's in everything BUT physics again...it's just really NOT my subject.

How bad is it to get C's in physics for dental school admissions? I have absolutely no trouble with chem and bio, I love those subjects, things just don't click with me and physics. If I have A's or A-'s in all my other science subjects will my C's in physics be ok? Also, since physics isn't even tested on the DAT, how important of a pre-req is it for d-school? I've heard that of all the subjects to do poorly in, it might as well be physics....

its not bad, but most schools have cutoffs you need to find out if a C- is acceptable, meanwhile C's or above are typically acceptable.

Contact each school and make sure its ok otherwise you might need to retake.

Thanks. I definitely don't have any C-'s and don't anticipate getting them. So far only one C+.

no problem just call the schools you're interested in to find out. If they're ok with it then its fine, otherwise might need to retake it.

Do people still get into Dental school with C's? Does anybody know of someone who's gotten in with C's? I know plenty of people in Pharmacy and even Allopathic med school with a few C's, but I don't know many pre-dental applicants. My cumulative Science GPA is 3.53 (Will take the DAT at the end of this year).

You're fine. Plenty of people get into dental school with a C on their transcript, myself included (and I got into 4!). Physics sucks and everyone knows it. A C+ is definitely not the end of the world.

overall matters more than one class. plus physics isnt that important for d-school.

I got into three schools with a D on my record, although one of the schools asked me to retake the D class. It happened early in my college career and I pulled close to As across the board over my last two years (with a heavy science course load) as well as in my one year off where I took my last prerequisite course.

Short answer, no, it's not the end of the world, but I don't recommend pushing the limits.

Just work your rear end off from this point out and if you need help doing better in physics, find that help.
