I will get my CS result next week and I have a bad feeling about it. I am a good student with good step 1/ck scores. If I fail CS, it will hurt my chances on getting any interviews. I was wondering if it is possible to submit only my Step 1 alone and/or CK score without submitting my CS result. Is this possible? Any help is appreciated.

No, it's all or nothing. When you release your transcript, then all attempts of all steps are released. Think positive thoughts.

If you get your result before submitting your application, when you release your scores all attempts will be listed.

If it helps any, I am pretty sure that most people feel like they failed coming out of the USMLE CS/COMLEX PE. It's easy to focus on everything you did wrong or could have done better in hindsight...but the odds are in your favor. :luck:

I felt horrible last night/this morning - up until 3am (rounds at 730) with IBS symptoms and continually checking when I realized I couldn't sleep. I'm in the same boat and felt good immediately after the test but in the last couple of days have been freaking out as I couldn't hide a fail from ERAS. Got my score today, and looks like I was worried for nothing - here're some good thoughts your way in hopes that you came out in a similar fashion.

Thanks for the positive responses everyone. Feel like a fool for overreacting. I passed. My performance profile was closer to borderline than what I would like, but it really doesn't matter. A pass is a pass. Wow, that was 2+ months worth of stress. It was a paralyzing experience since I didn't know what specialty I could go into if I failed CS (especially since I am an IMG).

It was the length of time between the test and the results that really got to me. If I could do it over again, I would take it at the end of the testing period in order to have a shorter turn-around time. Also, I should have waited. The results had to be reported since it is all or nothing. If I took it in Aug. or Sept, the results would not have to be reported with my Step 1/CK.

Glad it is over.

Congrats!

I got my results today and passed CS as well. 🙂:soexcited::highfive:

BTW, I'm an IMG too!

As an IMG, waiting would potentially be a bad idea. Some programs will not interview you without a CS result, or without ECFMG certifcation. In addition, if you did fail in Aug/Sept, then you would not have enough time to reschedule and take it again before the match deadline.

For US grads, doesn't matter at all.

I guess it's necessary to weigh the advantages/disadvantages. Thanks for the replies.

what if you're a student studying on a Visa, going to be an AMG, but will need a visa for residency training?

Assuming you are currently on an F visa, you will be able to train on an OPT visa during your PGY1. Hence, you are not in as much of a rush to complete Steps 1-3 for an H visa. This is discussed in the visa thread that is stickied at the top of the international forum.
