Hey guys,

On MYCSUDH, under the "Accept Admission" tab, does it say, " You have no applications for admission. Contact the Office of Admissions if you need assistance."?

You have no applications for admission. Contact the Office of Admissions if you need further assistance.

Mine says that too. I'm not going to worry about it for now. When did you mail your acceptance letter back to them? Maybe they just haven't gotten/processed it yet?

I guess I'll keep checking back every so often to see if it has changed.

Anybody else getting that message?

Mine has said that from the moment I was able to access MyCSUDH. I believe it's a roundabout way to say that your application is not at a stage where you're able to confirm or withdraw your admission--since no admission decision has been made yet. Even after the department made their decision, I think the university system still has to catch up.

For those who didn't make the initial round of admissions, we were given until Nov 13 to commit to the offer of admission or else the spot would be given to an applicant on the alternate list. So the next round of admissions could come by late November or earlier.

Did anyone ask during their second interview about the timeline for when they would send out acceptance letters?

yeah I just had my second round today and they said they've already sent out some acceptances and we should be expecting more decisions within the next 2 weeks.

by the way, how long did your guys' second interviews last? Mine was only like 13 minutes--so quick!

so, for those that didn't get interviews should be preparing for rejection letters in the mail? :dead:

Congratulations on the newly admitted students! Be sure to post your stats if you haven't yet--think of the future anxious students!

For everyone else still waiting, there's still time. I'm guessing once San Jose State starts notifying people on early December, there will be a few more spots open on CSUDH.

yes....
but for the ones on the waiting list.
i don't think CSUDH will conduct more interviews at this point.

Yeah for sure!

Stats:
Undergrad: 3.8 (BS in Kinesiology)
Prereq: 3.75
GRE: verbal: 156, quant: 155, writing: 4.0
Great letters of rec
150 observation hours in 1 setting.

I had one interview mid October and was not contacted about a second interview.
I just committed to CSUDH today as well. Best of luck to everyone. Looking forward to meeting some of you soon!

Hello future OTs! I have also been accepted into the MSOT program at CSUDH for Cohort 10 🙂 To future students hunting for stats... here are mine:

GPA: 3.27
GRE: V 151, Q 152, AWA 5
Volunteer: SCI inpatient rehab, peds SI clinic
Experience: ASD behavioral therapist (1 yr) , chiro assistant (1 yr), 3 years as an RA in undergrad psych labs, 2 years as chair of a health and wellness organization

I had one interview with the admissions committee on Nov 4 and received my acceptance letter on Nov 13!

I hope this is helpful to future applicants. Good luck to those who are applying or waiting to hear back from programs!

Hey guys, I just got a letter from CSUDH saying that I'm on the alternate list. I'm super disappointed. Oh well; that's life.

Now I'm really glad I applied to USC early decision!

Do you mind posting your stats? I didn't get in this year and am trying to boost my GRE score in the hopes of getting in next year. 😛

Did they tell you what # you are in the list? I just notified CSUDH that I won't be attending so hopefully that frees your spot!

Sure!

Undergraduate Institution: UCSD
Undergraduate Major: Political Science
Undergraduate GPA: 3.456
GRE: 161 Verbal, 150 Quantitative, 4.5 Analytical Writing
Prerequisite GPA: All As with a B in anatomy (physiology still in progress)
OTR 495 Grade: A
I don't have actual observation hours (which is why I took OTR 495), but I have tons of volunteer and work experience.

I went through 2 rounds of interviews. The letter said that due to the quality of my application, the admissions committee voted to keep me on the alternate list. If I don't get in this round, I most likely won't be reapplying next year, because I heard (on SDN) of students getting in with lower stats than mine. So it seems pointless to reapply. Good luck to you! 🙂

Also, you should let us know if you get in to USC! Good luck!
Will do! 🙂 Thanks! But I calculated that if I go to USC, I'll end up with $163,000 in student loans ($151,000 for USC, and $12,000 still left from undergrad). I'm not sure if it would be worth it to become an OT at that price. My application stats are slightly different for USC (rather than CSUDH): my analytical writing is a 3.5 because my 4.5 analytical writing score will have expired by the time the program starts, and my cumulative GPA is 3.54 (which will most likely change a little once I finish physio this semester).

I did email CSUDH asking for my number, and the likelihood that I'll get in, but they never responded. 🙁

That's awesome!! I hope I get in. Thanks for sharing!

Hey,

Is anyone still waiting on a letter?
I had an interview back in October and I thought it went well.. but I still haven't received any correspondence through the mail.
I have called and emailed and they are adamantly refusing to release any information on the status of my application- they won't even take down my name.

They told me they sent the last batch of letters out on Wednesday, and being just one county over, I can't imagine they would be taking this long to arrive.

Anyone else in a similar position?

For those of you on the waitlist: I was just notified of my admission into the program, so there is still hope. Apparently they only place about 20-30 people on the waitlist each year.

Good luck guys.

So you got off the waitlist? That's awesome news! How did they notify you? Who told you that there are only 20-30 people on the waitlist? I finished my last prereq (physio) with an A, and just sent them my updated transcript. I'm hoping that will help my case.

I've been waitlisted, and as each day passes and I don't get a call from CSUDH, I see my OT dream slowly floating away. 🙁 My letter said that the last day they can call me January 9th, and there's really only 4 days left (because CSUDH is closed on the weekends).

So what happened?
I'm preparing for this year's application-again. 😛

Would current applicants mind sharing their stats for Spring 2015? I'll be applying the year after and want to know what I'd possibly be up against? 🙂

Wow! Whatever you did to get accepted I want to know! I have around the same GPA as you right now and have a year left of undergrad. Did you have great LORs? I see you have a lot of experience too!

i meant to reply to your previous post

Undergrad GPA: 3.2
Graduate GPA (which they don't care about): 3.85
Prereq GPA: 3.5
GRE Verbal: 157 Quant:145 Writing: 4
Volunteer Hours: 100+
Awesome Letters of Rec
These are my current stats, but I'm working to improve my GRE Quant and AWA scores. By the way, these stats DID NOT get me into the program last year. :-(

Hi! Just found this forum, and I also am applying for the 2015 Spring, this is my first time applying, as I have just decided to switch career! Will be finishing up my pre-reqs in 2 weeks, and just took the GRE finally yesterday, but here are my stats!

undergrad: UCI
major: business admin
GPA:3.75
pre-req: (most likely) 4
GRE: 155Q 158V, don't know writing yet
great letters of rec
0 volunteer hours (took OTR410, I couldn't swing it with my job)

Looking forward to applying when all my stuff is ready!

From what I've read/studied on this thread about stats, I think you have a great chance at getting accepted! Good luck!
When I was rejected last year, I called and asked them what I should work on and they basically said that the AWA score has to be at least a 5.5 because my undergrad GPA (3.2)was low, coupled with average/low GRE scores and AWA 4. You have great stats so hopefully you'll get in.

How are my stats? I'm nervous about my chances.

GPA: 3.43
Pre-req GPA: 3.93
GRE: 164 V, 163 Q, 5.0 AW
One letter of rec from a calculus professor, one letter of rec from a former client of mine (I was a caregiver for her autistic son), and one letter of rec from an OT at the nursing home I volunteer at
51 volunteer hours (going to finish the remaining 29 I need by the end of next week)

My GPA seems a bit low, but I'm hoping my GRE score will make up for this. Thanks for any feedback!

I think you have good stats, too. I'm no expert, but if you look at previous pages on this thread, people have gotten in with lower GPAs than you. And the AWA 5 will set you apart from the crowd. Good luck!

Thanks daisymama! I'm pretty nervous because I'm doing a complete 180 in career from marketing to this with no previous experience at all besides children ministry at church and some hospital volunteering.

But so from what I hear from the admissions committee is that they are interviewing everyone who "makes the cut" either to confirm the ones they want and to decide on the people who they are on the fence with. They take about 100 from the 400 to interview and then from there pick the cohort, which is around 60-70.

Does anybody know if my application to CSUDH's OT program will be disqualified if I have a 3.5 on the GRE AW??

Yes, unfortunately it will be. Someone asked that question at the information session. They will not accept anything below a 4.0, they wish they could but they just can't. The 4.0 requirement is not something that they set as a department. The University itself set that requirement for all incoming graduate students in order to fulfill the graduate writing requirement. It might be worth it to give them a call and get a second opinion, or you may want to check the "Accepted" thread as well and see if anyone was admitted with anything lower than a 4.0. Another option that they suggested for people with a low score was to just retake it, they will consider your Verbal and Quantitative from this GRE section and your Writing from another. This way you don't have to worry about your performance on for your verbal or quantitative for the next GRE session unless you wish to improve on that as well.

Do we have to submit two copies of transcripts from every school we've attended (one electronic copy to CSU Mentor, one paper copy to the department by mail)?

Yes, I had the same question so emailed them, they said yes

I'm a bit confused about the academic references section under CSU Mentor. Does anyone know if it's okay to list a professor who's also writing your letter of recommendation as a reference?

I thought that was who they were referring to: the people writing your recommendations.

Hello all, I am a current CSUDH student and am happy to answer any questions (to the best of my ability) that you guys may have about the program, application process etc.

Just let me know! 🙂

I would like to know what your weekly schedule is like and also how much time you dedicate per week to studying outside of class. I know this is subjective, but I just want an idea. I have a child and want to know how I would work out studying. And do you have any tips for the admissions interview? Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much, outsidethebox43!
could you share a a little about the interview process?
I turned in my application and now I'm so nervous and worried!!!!

Where are all the applicants this admission's cycle? Last year, this forum was blowing up and now barely anyone is on here...They either don't know about it or maybe (hopefully) so many people aren't applying this year... I just turned in my app today and am already dying in anticipation of November!
