Now I know Cube counting is like the easiest part of PAT and I use the 0-5 table etc, I came accross a really weird one on Achiever. I finished test 2 yesterday and I have this question:

http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/7180/datcubecountingquestion.jpg

The picture shows the question diagram and the 3d model that is the solution. Now when you have cubes attached to each other like that via the edge, is that legit? I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the cubes will always share at least one side and will never be joined edge to edge. Achiever seems to be going out of its way to make things difficult, so is this one of those instances or am I completely wrong in that assumption.

On a completely different note, on my last 5 CDP tests my scores were 22,21,23,26,23, while my achiever scores have been 17,18 so far. I am going to do another test today and will update. Is achiever more representative of the test of CDP for PAT.

Even though the sciences are harder on Achiever I haven't had much trouble, but my Pat and RC scores are way lower than the ones I got on Crack Dat's Pat and Reading tests.

Thanks in advance for your help!

supposedly corner to corner connections are not possible.

the rules or instructions state the pieces are all cemented together as 1 unit.

People have claimed to get them on the test. Both times though I didn't see any. In any case. cube counting on the actual exam is very very straight forward.

you won't get 30+ cube setups like on CDP and there are little gray area or up for debate questions.

As for what is more representative, I would go with CDP.

As for achiever going out of its way for difficult. No this question isn't it. Its hardly confusing. Maybe CDP fixed them but they have some straight up impossible ones that due to the way its angled you can't tell if its a cube or an empty spot. I forgot what test number it is.

achiever tends to make TFE and Keyhole the more difficult ones.

Right, so this isn't a legit question for the real DAT since in this case the blocks can't possibly be cemented together.

To be honest, I found angles way harder on CDP. Pattern folding and TFE are not too bad on achiever but the diagrams are SO DAMN UGLY (especially for patterns since they draw thin lines on the faces of the shape and it just looks like a mess). Achiever also pulls some real cheap moves like hiding a small portion of the object in keyholes. Overall though CDP was pretty easy except for a couple insane angle questions and the rare cube counting illusion. Achiever's PAT and RC are just...awful.

Thanks for the answer.

I got a corner-corner one during my DAT, even after making sure with SDN that those wouldn't show up. 😛
