I took Organic Chem and Physics at Baruch. I applied to many schools and have gotten enough interviews. My stats are just above average - real average for accepted students (according to AMCAS), not SDN average.

For the love of God, use full words.

That is all.

I'm from CUNY, my stats are way above avergae and my MD apps profile will be linked in my sig as soon as the end of march rolls around and all my schools have gotten back to me. (I am not trying to be braggy or anything but some of the anti CUNY comments saying that we have no shot at ivy league schools and will get a 2 on the MCAT etc. in other threads has been bothering me lately) So far I'm doing quite well, have 3 acceptances and am waiting to hear post interview from some other schools which include a good number of top ten institutions. My friends are doing fine as well.

CUNY is fine if you are self-motivated student. If not, you are screwed. Also my app cycle, and that of my friends, probably has a lot to do with the fact that we all have stellar stats and ECS. Coming from CUNY we have zero wiggle room for mistakes. Also if you need any of the 'hand holding" that a smaller more personal insitution can afford to give its students then CUNY is not the way to go for you. I have had to deal with tons of red tape and administrative incompetence, but lots of colleges have that problem. Going to CUNY definitely will help minimize undergrad debt, you just need to be totally on top of your game. I call it "owning your education" when asked about CUNY on interviews, interviewers seem to respect that comment. I should go into PR...

Im rooting for you Caristra, I do agree with you that it's about "owning your education". The thing with CUNY is that it does not get the respect that it deserves. Just like "gonnabmd" stated, he had the #s but the acceptances were not there.

Prove me wrong Caristra, CUNY needs a newfound name for it's premeds.

Easy fella; "gonnabmd" actually has two acceptances. But I don't have a degree from CUNY, just some classes. By the way, I do completely agree with the bit from Caristra. Many pre-med kids in my classes were nowhere near motivated enough to do well; people like that flounder in an environment where hand-holding simply does not exist.
