Hello, I just wanted to know what the normal work for an attending radiologist would be? Also, what are the hours like for specialty physicians such as nuclear docs and IR? Thanks

One of my friends is a radiologist here in Orlando. Works 8-5PM M-F and on call for the weekend once a month.

Spoke to another radiologist at Shands&UF, he does 50 a week, too.

Academic radiologists tend to work less and have easier call.

Which applies to any specialty. Outside of transplant and trauma surgery, your lifestyle/cash ratio is whatever you want it to be. You might have to o-gosh MOVE to achieve this, but I know orthopedic and neuro surgeons who work 9-5 4 days/week with call for their 'doctors hospital' every other month (they don't make the usual ortho/NS money, but they have a life).
