I have been leaning toward Anesthesia Assistant vs becoming a physician over the last few months. My question is knowing what you know today(job outlook, job satisfaction, respect given to you/lack of respect for the AA profession, ect..) , would you still choose to do anesthesia assistant? Are you happy with your carer. I would do CRNA, but I am basically done my premed classes and it would actually be faster to become an MD at this point.

I thought about those programs in a panicked moment of thinking I wouldn't get into med school. One big thing I learned was that they're not (currently) licensed to practice in most states. That turned me away since I live in/want to end up in states where I wouldn't be able to work.

Just a thought.

I know that is a big turnoff (I live in the only state that has explicitly said they CAN NOT practice) But, I think I can get by/be content living somewhat close to Louisiana, like Florida, Georgia, and Bama.

I'm not necessarily scared about getting to medical school (3.75 gpa), but my main draw to AA is the fact that its 2 yrs vs 7 and I actually like the fact of not being in charge and like that I can fall back and ask for advice when I don't have the answer.I am not the type of person who is too proud to admit that I may not have every answer. The lack of autonomy doesn't really bother me, because in the end everyone works/answers to someone(although the level of which may differ); physicians are no exception.

crna school. Get to do anesthesia, work less than 40 hours a week for a huge paycheck and able to spend a ton of time on the internet talking smack about doctors who are still training while you're earning the big bucks
