Current Controversies/Debates/Issues in Vet Med?

I have a writing in the biological sciences course this semester and our main project for the course is developing a policy recommendation based on research regarding a controversial biological topic. So I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for topics I could look into, preferably something for which I could find primary literature based on lab research. Some of the topics that my professor suggested were REM sleep and eye health, omega-3-fatty acids relation to cancer, and melfloquine and post-traumatic stress disorder, so I'm looking for topics in that vein, but that have a direct relation to vet med.
