Goddamnit. I go away for a few weeks and I miss out on the most fun that SDN has had since OperatingThetan was around. Son of a bitch.

im sorry to everyone working at CVS. i am thankful i am not there and dont know why people endure abuse and allow **** to happen.

our country has come to where people dont go out and make change, they wait for it to just happen.

make it so CVS has to change their practices.

seeing how CVS and Walgreens operate and the way pharmacy is heading, i question why anyone would choose pharm as a profession

I dont care what anyone says, CVS is a horrible horrible place to work...That is all...

I work 14's, have plenty of help, don't take a lunch (but still eat 2 meals most days), and we do about 200/day. I feel very little stress at work. Every store I've worked at in our district is this way, and it's more than manageable. I'd take this over WAG any day. I got a lunch break there, but I barely wound down before it was back for more torture. We even had tons of automation and I'd take my current job for 1/2 the pay. I don't know where the rest of you CVS people work, but maybe it's not CVS that's the problem...it's your district?

And that number of 200 per day is why you are so happy. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of CVS's around that still have that type of volume. So I agree with you - I'm not sure if CVS the problem all the time - I think it would be a great job if I only had to do 200 per day during the week.

I think about leaving CVS more often than I should, at least 4 or 5 times a week. It really sucks. I feel like I helped one or 2 customers a week, that made me feel a little better. The technicians I work with make my job tolerable. Actually, that's the reason I stayed for the past few months. I've been thinking about getting another job for quite a while now, but moving to another retail pharmacy just isn't attractive at all, even Target, my "dream retail store" I don't know anymore . . . .

They pay you a 6-figure salary and you're complaining about 10 minutes/day??

I feel the same way jeez their are some people who are flat out freaking idiots. I work as a Pharmacist in the Dallas/Ft Worth area and the avg salary is 112k- if CVS wanted me to open 30 minutes early I wouldn't give a crap- do you know how many people would take a Pharmacist salary if they were told just to arrive 5 minutes earlier? Also, it's good business practice- most business if they opened at 8- would have their employees arrive way before opening. If you arrive 5 minutes- you get the customers satisfaction that they are being served on time.

vitamin K- I agree with you. i work at a store that right now averages 4300 a week. I been with CVS since 2006 and I can honestly say that I only had 4 bad days in 4 years. i arrive to work with a great attitude and never leave stressed. The 4 bads I had were two times I had someone call in on a Sunday and it was just me and a tech and my store has a drive thru with 3 lanes and I think those 2 Sundays we did about 450 scripts which was busy for a Sunday. The other 2 imes was when the power went out for 4 hours and when it came back we were seriously backed up. Another Time our fax machine and computer crashed and caused all kinds of peroblems.
Last October during a week that there was a serious H!N! out break we did 6000 scripts and although it was obviously busy the Pharmacy ran smooth as can be. We got a lot of prescriptions from Walgreens that week because WG's was telling customers their rescriptions would be ready in 24hrs. We no matter how busy we are would give any customer a 24hr waiting period unless we are out of stock- keep in mind Walgreens was given anyone who brought in a prescription for Tamiflu-which had to be counted a 24hr wait period. The WG's that is our competitor does about 3000 scripts a week- a thousand less than we do and yet based on customers response we have a far shorter wait time than CVS.
Bottomline if your store is doing bad or is hectic- don't blame the company it's either the people working there are upper management. for the most part my store is staffed very well and I would say in the last year 98% we exceeded our expected script average. So once again either take a look at the staff or the district before you blame the company.
