Good move to combat Amazon. Wonder if Walgreens will follow suit.
I don't believe walgreens offers the option to order OTC items along with the RX. Could, be wrong though. Also thought they only have next day delivery available.Walgreens already has this.
Walgreens will definitely follow suit. And once CVS/WAG turn into a 90% home-delivery/mail order service, expect 90% of their brick-and-mortar retail pharmacists to be laid off.
Merlo and Pessina must be licking their chops at the idea of replacing $50/hr pharmacists with $10/hr truck drivers. Imagine how much money you can save...
Well their pharmacies are inside their stores so the grocery/merchandising part will still be there. If anything I can see them getting rid of the pharmacy section in the back of the store and converting that space into a mini logistics/drug distribution center. Imagine that DMs get converted into “dispensing” pharmacists that oversee 10 “distribution centers” in person instead of 10 PICs, and at each store instead of a pharmacy there is a health kiosk that is managed by a telepharmacist to handle all the clinical stuff like counseling (also a ratio of 1 telepharmacist per 10 stores). Boom, 90% of retail pharmacist jobs are gone just like that. The only way CVS/WAG can offer same-day delivery, is by having brick and mortar stores. This is why Amazon only has same-day delivery in places close to one of their distribution centers.
Like mentos said above, Rite Aid has offered this for years without any large issues that I know of. Though it does seem like it's way more effort than it's worth to me.Hahaah, I can't wait for the lawsuits to roll in when wrong med / wrong pt incidents start happening

Is same day an option?Walgreens has been doing delivery for awhile, no one uses it.
