I've taken a few pre-reqs at a community college years ago for dentistry.

General Biology I & II
General Chemistry I & II
(Four classes total)

I've been reading about people that have taken classes (specifically pre-reqs) at CC and are in trouble with applying to schools.

I'm a bio major and took a lot of bio classes at a University (A's and B's).

Am I looking at trouble in applying to schools for having received credit for Gen Bio and Gen Chem at a CC?

Thanks to all who are helping me out! 😉

I took chem, ochem, bio, and 1 microbio class at a cc and I still have 8 interviews out of 13 schools I applied to. You will be fine.

I have taken all of my pre-reqs as a community college as I am a non-traditional student with a BA from a 4 year. I have 2 interviews thus far and am waiting to hear back from 4 schools (sitting in the "competetive" pile at OHSU). I also got an email from someone who helps make decisions at the UW that said a lot of students take courses at community colleges. I think it's only an issue at a few schools and they seem to be mostly east coast schools (Tufts for instance).

We'll see but I've had some luck so far...

Don't let CC credits get you down. Many of us have them and there is nothing you can do about it now. Try to take most at your university and be aware of schools that have a CC limit. But overall, it's really not a big deal as long as you have a good GPA
